IodaRacing Project is an Italian motorcycle constructor and racing team based in Terni, Italy. The team currently fields Aprilia motorcycles in the Superbike World Championship with Leandro Mercado and with Yamaha motorcycles in the Supersport 300 World Championship with Armando Pontone. Between 2011 and 2015 IodaRacing raced in the Grand Prix World Championship, making appearances in all three classes using different chassis.
Team principal Giampiero Sacchi had been involved in the sport since the 1980s when he was working in management and public relations. Sacchi ran his own team, Scuderia Carrizosa, from 1996 to 1998 in the 125cc and 250cc classes before working for Derbi Racing, Gilera and Aprilia between 1998 and 2010. [1] Sacchi was also responsible for overseeing the careers of several champions including Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. [2] Sacchi launched IodaRacing Project in 2010 with intentions to enter Grand Prix motorcycle racing in 2011. [3]
IodaRacing entered the MotoGP class under Claiming Rule Teams (CRT) regulations in 2012. The team used its own chassis, the TR003, with an Aprilia RSV4 engine. Danilo Petrucci was the team's rider for the season. [4] Petrucci recorded seven points-scoring finishes across the eighteen races to finish nineteenth in the championship, with a best finish of eighth at the final round. The team switched to Suter frames and BMW engines midway through the season. [5]
IodaRacing continued to use Suter-BMW machinery in 2013. The team expanded to run two bikes, one for Petrucci and one for Czech rider Lukáš Pešek. [5]
IodaRacing first competed in Grand Prix motorcycle racing in 2011 in the Moto2 class. Simone Corsi and Mattia Pasini rode for the team, with FTR chassis being used. Corsi scored two podiums during the course of the season to finish sixth in the championship, with Pasini finishing in twenty-fourth. The team continued to use the FTR chassis in 2012, downsizing to one bike for Corsi. Corsi was unable to replicate the podium results of 2011, ending the season eleventh in the points with a best finish of fifth.
For 2013, IodaRacing switched to using a Suter chassis as it had done in the MotoGP class during the second half of 2012. With Corsi moving to NGM Mobile Racing, the team employed the 2011 125cc-class runner-up Johann Zarco. [5] In 2014, Randy Krummenacher joined the team. His best result was 7th at the Sachsenring. In 2015, Florian Alt was the team's rider. Alt failed to score points, as his best result was 19th at Indianapolis.
IodaRacing competed in the 2012 Moto3 season using the Ioda TR002. Luigi Morciano and Jonas Folger began the season riding for the team, with Folger recording a best result of eleventh in France. However, this would prove to be the team's only points-scoring finish during the season. Folger left the team before the Indianapolis round, replaced by Armando Pontone. [6] The team finished eighth in the Manufacturers' championship with 5 points.

Héctor Faubel Rojí is a former professional motorcycle road racer.
Jorge Martínez Salvadores, nicknamed "Aspar", is a Spanish former professional motorcycle racer and racing team manager. He competed in the Grand Prix road racing world championships from 1982 to 1997. After retiring from active competition, Martínez became a successful motorcycle racing team owner. He is one of the most successful motorcycle racers in Grand Prix motorcycle racing history with 22 Grand Prix victories to his name in the 80 cc class and a further 15 wins in the 125 cc class. In 2019, Martínez was inducted into the MotoGP Hall of Fame.
Anthony "Ant" Keith West,, is an Australian motorcycle road racer. He most recently raced in the 2019 Brazilian Superbike Championship for the Kawasaki Racing Team. West was suspended from participating at any FIM sanctioned events for 24 months due to testing positive for banned substances from 8 July 2018 to 14 September 2020. In 2018 he competed in the Supersport World Championship, aboard a Kawasaki ZX-6R and in the Asia Road Race SS600 Championship, aboard a Yamaha YZF-R6.
The 2008 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 60th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. The season consisted out of 18 races for the MotoGP class and 17 for the 125cc and 250cc classes, beginning with the Qatar motorcycle Grand Prix on 9 March 2008 and ending with the Valencian Community motorcycle Grand Prix on 26 October.
Simone Corsi is an Italian former Grand Prix motorcycle racer. Born in Rome, Corsi has been racing in motorcycle world championships for nearly 20 years, amassing over 300 races, 4th all-time, behind only Valentino Rossi, Andrea Dovizioso and Loris Capirossi.

He twice won the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in 2017 on Yamaha and in 2020 on the Honda CBR. He also twice won the Bol d'Or 24-hour motorcycle endurance race on Circuit Paul Ricard. After losing his KTM ride in MotoGP at the end of the 2021 season, he entered the 2022 Dakar Rally with a Tech3 KTM rally raid 450 cc machine in January 2022.
The 2014 FIM MotoGP World Championship was the premier class of the 66th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. Marc Márquez started the season as the defending riders' champion in the MotoGP category, with Honda the defending manufacturers' champions.
The 2015 FIM MotoGP World Championship was the premier class of the 67th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. The championship was won by Spanish rider Jorge Lorenzo, racing for Movistar Yamaha MotoGP. It was his third and final world title in the MotoGP category, his fifth overall in Grand Prix motorcycle racing. The season had 18 races, beginning in Qatar and finishing in Valencia, which determined who would be world champion between Movistar Yamaha teammates Lorenzo and runner-up Valentino Rossi. It was first time since 2006 that the world title was decided on the final race of the season. Lorenzo also had the most pole positions, fastest laps and race wins throughout the season; while Rossi had the most finishes, completing every race throughout the season, while Lorenzo had one race retirement in San Marino.
The 2016 FIM Moto2 World Championship was a part of the 68th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. The season was marred by the death of Luis Salom during a free practice session, at the Catalan Grand Prix.
The 2018 FIM Moto2 World Championship was a part of the 70th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. Franco Morbidelli was the reigning series champion, but he did not defend his title as he moved to the MotoGP class.
The 2019 FIM Moto2 World Championship was a part of the 71st F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. Francesco Bagnaia was the reigning series champion but he was unable to defend his title as he joined the series' premier class, the MotoGP.
