The 2012 United States motorcycle Grand Prix (formally known as the 2012 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix) [4] was the tenth round of the 2012 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season and the first of two races in the 2012 season to take place in the United States of America. It was held on 29 July at the Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. [5]
Jorge Lorenzo qualified on pole position for the race, [6] which was won by Casey Stoner. [7]

The 2007 United States motorcycle Grand Prix was the eleventh round of the 2007 MotoGP championship. It took place on the weekend of 20–22 July 2007 at the Laguna Seca circuit.
The 2008 United States motorcycle Grand Prix was the eleventh round of the 2008 MotoGP championship. It took place on the weekend of July 18–20, 2008, at the Laguna Seca circuit. It was an eventful race between Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner where the lead was hotly contested between the two. On lap 23, with Rossi leading after a controversial pass down the corkscrew, Stoner entered into the last corner too deep and ended up in the gravel trap. Rossi retained his lead for the remainder of the race while Stoner managed to finish in second place despite his mistake. Rossi won for the first time at Laguna Seca and Stoner set a new lap record with a time of 1:21.488.
The 2004 Czech Republic motorcycle Grand Prix was the tenth round of the 2004 MotoGP Championship. It took place on the weekend of 20–22 August 2004 at the Masaryk Circuit located in Brno, Czech Republic.

The 2005 Australian motorcycle Grand Prix was the fifteenth round of the 2005 MotoGP Championship. It took place on the weekend of 13–15 October 2005 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. It was also the final victory for Valentino Rossi at Phillip Island until the 2014 event.
The 1994 United States motorcycle Grand Prix was the twelfth round of the 1994 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on September 11, 1994, at the Laguna Seca Raceway. This round was the last motorcycle Grand Prix hosted by the United States until 2005.

As usual, only the MotoGP class was permitted to race at Laguna Seca due to the Californian air pollution law prohibiting two-stroke engines in the state. Spain's Dani Pedrosa took his first win for a year, holding off a last-lap surge from championship leader Valentino Rossi.
