Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Patan is a school located in the village of Patan in the Sikar district of Rajasthan. It is on the Delhi Highway and is surrounded by the Arawali hills. The school is a member of the chain of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) schools for gifted children.

History

The school was established at a temporary site in 1987, and is a part of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya schools.The school was shifted to the permanent campus on July 1990. The permanent campus of this school is located at Patan, Sikar district. This school is administered and monitored by Japur regional office of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. [1]

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) is a system of alternate schools for gifted students in India. They are run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, New Delhi, an autonomous organization under the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. JNVs are fully residential and co-educational schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, with classes from VI to XII standard. JNVs are specifically tasked with finding talented children in rural areas of India and providing them with an education equivalent to the best residential school system, without regard to their families' socio-economic condition.

Description

The school now has several buildings, including the school building, hostels, staff quarters, and a multi-purpose hall. There is a Temple of the goddess Saraswati near the school building which was built in 2000 by students (Batch 1993-2000) contribution. They are connected to each other by the road, and follow the typical architectural style of JNV schools. The school is a residential school. Facilities are free of cost.

Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, wisdom, and learning. She is a part of the trinity (Tridevi) of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati. All the three forms help the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva to create, maintain, and regenerate the Universe, respectively.

JNV Sikar has been awarded the status of Smart School in Jaipur Region. This Smart Status is given to top ten Schools of India. The school syllabus follows the Central Board of Secondary Education pattern. Classes are conducted from the 6th standard to 12th standard.

Students learn to work as a team and to work with skill and deftness. It was introduced in 1978, by the Ministry of Education to promote Gandhian values and educational ideas of Mahatma Gandhi.
