Owen William Paterson is a British former politician and unregistered lobbyist who served as Secretary of State for Northern Ireland from 2010 to 2012 and Secretary of State for Environment,Food and Rural Affairs from 2012 to 2014 under Prime Minister David Cameron. A member of the Conservative Party,he served as Member of Parliament (MP) for North Shropshire from 1997 until his resignation in 2021. Paterson was also the President of the Northern Ireland Conservatives.

Theresa May won the contest on 11 July 2016,after the withdrawal of Andrea Leadsom left her as the sole candidate.
British prime minister David Cameron reshuffled the Conservative members of his coalition government on 15 July 2014. The reshuffle,intended to strengthen his party's position in advance of the 2015 general election,had been long anticipated,as Cameron had maintained an unusually high level of stability amongst the senior ranks of his government,with only one prior reshuffle of significance,and many ministers having remained in place since their election in 2010. The reshuffle also featured the appointment of a new European Commissioner representing the United Kingdom,as the term of Lady Ashton was set to expire later in 2014.

The 2016 Prime Minister's Resignation Honours are honours awarded following the July 2016 resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron. The life peerages and other honours were issued as two separate lists by the Cabinet Office on 4 August 2016 and all honours were gazetted as one list on 16 August 2016. This was the first Prime Minister's Resignation Honours since 1997.

The Conservative Friends of India is linked to the Conservative Party in the UK,and is a membership organisation which engages with the British Indian community and played a significant role in the Conservative campaign in the 2019 general election,as well as supporting the development of stronger India–United Kingdom relations. It actively campaigns for the Conservative Party in the British Indian community. The organisation was also responsible for releasing Hindi campaign songs for the Conservative Party in recent elections supporting David Cameron,Theresa May and Zac Goldsmith.
