Krisia Marinova Todorova (Bulgarian : Крисия Маринова Тодорова, born 1 June 2004) [1] is a Bulgarian singer, composer and songwriter. [2]

Along with the Hassan and Ibrahim Ignatov, she represented Bulgaria at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Malta with a song she made "Planet of the Children". They scored in second place, while receiving the most points from the press votes. [3]

The following year she released "Discover", the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 official song, in Arena Armeec, Sofia., [4] "Planet of the Children" and "I'd like to draw a dream" at the "New Wave Junior" 2015 festival, in Sochi, Russian Federation. [5] [6]

in 2015, Todorova and the Seven-Eight Production Company received the NASO Grand Prize for their contribution to the social development of Bulgaria. [7]

Early and personal life

Born in Varna on 1 June 2004, Todorova now lives in Razgrad daughter of Marin Todorov and Angelina Todorova. She has two sisters, Tiffany Todorova (born 2000) and Marina Todorova (2009). [8] [ better source needed ]

She started studying music when she was six years old in a variety of music schools in Bulgaria, and is currently[ when? ] studying music at the "Centre for work with Children" in Razgrad with vocal teacher Svilena Decheva, where she sings and plays the piano. She studied at "Vasil Levski" Primary School in 7200 Razgrad, and since 15 September 2018 she is a student of the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia. [9] [10] [11]

Her hobbies include drawing and dancing – especially classical ballet. Her favourite subject at school is Mathematics, Man And Society and the English language. [12] Her favourite singers are Ariana Grande, Lili Ivanova, Lara Fabian, Mariana Popova, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera and Beyoncé. [13]

Todorova has received seven awards from different national and international music competitions held in Bulgaria, but 2014 was her major breakthrough year. She gained national popularity with her participation in Slavi's Show on bTV, and later became part of the TV show – Zapoznaĭ se s malkite (Meet the Kids). Todorova first appeared on the show on 30 December 2013, performing "Listen" by Beyoncé. [14] [15] In March 2014, Todorova was chosen to sing the national anthem of Bulgaria, Mila Rodino and Moya Strana, Moya Bălgaria at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia, live in front of 42,000 people, for the opening of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 match between Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad and Spanish club Valencia. In November 2014, Todorova along with twins Hasan and Ibrahim, represented Bulgaria at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Malta with the song "Planet of the Children". They finished in second place with a total of 147 points, just twelve points behind winner Italy. Todorova was subsequently received by President Rosen Plevneliev and was given an honorary distinction. [17] In December 2014, Krisia performed again "The Planet of the Children" at the European Parliament. Bulgaria has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 14 times since making its debut at the 2005 contest in Kyiv. The country's best result is a second-place finish with "Beautiful Mess" performed by Kristian Kostov at the 2017 contest also in Kyiv. Stanislav Todorov Trifonov, known as Slavi Trifonov, is a Bulgarian TV host, tambourine and viola player, singer and politician. In February 2012, she won the Bulgarian Eurovision national final with the song "Love Unlimited", thus becoming the representative of Bulgaria in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Bulgaria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "Angel si ti" written by Miroslav Kostadinov, Mihail Mihailov and Gordon Davis. The song was performed by Miro, which is the artistic name of singer Miroslav Kostadinov. In October 2009, the Bulgarian broadcaster Bulgarian National Television (BNT) announced that Miro had been selected to compete at the 2010 contest in Oslo, Norway. The broadcaster organised the national final Bŭlgarskata pesen v „Evroviziya 2010” in order to select the song that Miro competed with. Hassan and Ibrahim Ignatov are Bulgarian twin pianists. Along with Krisia Todorova, they represented Bulgaria in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Malta with the song "Planet of the Children". Like Todorova, Hassan and Ibrahim also participated in Slavi's Show on bTV. They released their first collection of their own compositions at the age of 11.

Bulgaria selected their Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 entry through an internal selection. On 26 July 2014 the Bulgarian broadcaster BNT stated that they will return to the contest with Krisia Todorova. This was later confirmed by the EBU on 1 August 2014. A three-question referendum was held in Bulgaria on 6 November 2016 alongside presidential elections.
