<span class="mw-page-title-main">Boise, Idaho</span> Capital and most populous city of Idaho, United States

Boise is the capital and most populous city in the U.S. state of Idaho and is the county seat of Ada County. As of the 2020 census, there were 235,684 people residing in the city. On the Boise River in southwestern Idaho, it is 41 miles (66 km) east of the Oregon border and 110 miles (177 km) north of the Nevada border. The downtown area's elevation is 2,704 feet (824 m) above sea level.

KTVB is a television station in Boise, Idaho, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Tegna Inc. The station's studios are located on West Fairview Avenue in Boise, and its transmitter is located on Deer Point in unincorporated Boise County. It is rebroadcast by KTFT-LD in Twin Falls, which airs KTVB programming with local advertising for the Magic Valley area from its transmitter on Flat Top Butte near Jerome, Idaho, and maintains a local sales office in Twin Falls.

David Harold Bieter is an American politician and attorney who served as mayor of Boise from 2004 to 2020. A Democrat, Bieter was the longest-serving mayor in the city's history. According to The New York Times, he was the only Basque-speaking mayor in the United States as of 2012. His father, Pat Bieter, was also a local politician who served in the Idaho House of Representatives.

Carolyn Terteling-Payne is an American politician who served as interim mayor of Boise, Idaho, from 2003 to 2004.

H. Brent Coles is an American politician who served as mayor of Boise, Idaho from 1993 to 2003. Coles resigned from office after accepting an illegal trip to the 2002 Winter Olympics from an insurance company. Coles was a candidate in the 2019 Boise mayoral election, placing fourth out of seven candidates in first round of voting.

The Treefort Music Fest is a five-day, indie rock festival which is held at numerous venues throughout downtown Boise, Idaho in late March. The inaugural festival took place during March 20–23, 2012, with featured acts from Built to Spill, The Joy Formidable, and Poliça. Treefort has been called "the west’s best SXSW alternative" and "Boise's preeminent artistic, cultural, and musical happening" which has "morphed from quirky music festival to consuming community event." It has also been characterized as having become a "nationally renowned gathering just by maintaining its personable close-knit vibe" and a "music lover's joyous mayhem" which showcases and amplifies the soul of Boise. Given its track record, by its seventh year Treefort was being hailed as "the greatest music festival in the country" and "an absolute gem of a festival."

The 2014 Idaho gubernatorial election was held on November 4, 2014, to elect the governor of Idaho, concurrently with the election to Idaho's Class II U.S. Senate seat, as well as other elections to the United States Senate in other states and elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections.

Holli Woodings is an American politician who served in Idaho House of Representatives, representing District 19B, which covers the northern section of Boise, Idaho. She was the 2014 Democratic nominee for Idaho secretary of state. Woodings served on the Boise City Council until July 2023.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Boise Fire Department</span> Boise, Idaho Fire Department

The Boise Fire Department is the agency that provides fire suppression services within the city of Boise, Idaho and contract services to two suburban fire districts including the city of Garden City and village of Hidden Springs. It is the largest fire department in Idaho. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are provided by the separate county agency, Ada County Paramedics. Currently, Boise Fire Department has 300+ full time employees, 17 Fire Stations, a Hazardous Materials Team, ARFF team, Dive Team and a Technical Rescue Team. The Department serves a population of 236,000 residents in 130+ square miles.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial</span> Park in Boise, Idaho, USA

The Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial is a .81 acres (0.33 ha) cenotaph complex and educational park in Boise, Idaho near the Boise Public Library and the Greenbelt, the centerpiece of which is a statue of Anne Frank; it is jointly maintained by the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights and the Boise Department of Parks and Recreation, and is the only human rights memorial in the U.S. Designed by Idaho Falls architect Kurt Karst, a sapling of the Anne Frank Tree and quotations from some sixty notables and unknowns are prominent installations. It also features one of the few installations where the full text of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is on permanent public display. The park has been recognized and accepted by the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience. It was thoroughly renovated in September 2018, with an outdoor classroom and a new sculpture, "The Spiral of Injustice."

The 2019 Boise mayoral election was held on November 5, 2019, to determine the mayor of Boise, Idaho. The election was officially nonpartisan. The election was won by Boise City Council the president Lauren McLean, who defeated the incumbent mayor Dave Bieter in a runoff election held on December 3, 2019.

Annissa Essaibi George is an American politician who served as an at-large member of the Boston City Council. First elected in 2015, she served on the council from 2016 to 2022. She was a candidate in the 2021 Boston mayoral election. She placed second in the nonpartisan primary, but was defeated in the general election by fellow city councilor Michelle Wu. Since November 2022, Essaibi George has served as the president of the Board of Directors of the nonprofit organization Big Sister Boston.

John Patrick "Pat" Bieter was an American politician and educator. A member of the Democratic Party, Bieter served as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives from 1996 until his death in 1999.

Lauren Necochea is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she has served in the Idaho House of Representatives since 2019. She represents the 19th district, which includes a portion of Boise, the state capital. Since 2022, she has served as chair of the Idaho Democratic Party.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Boise mayoral election</span>

The 2023 Boise mayoral election was held on November 7, 2023, to elect the mayor of Boise, Idaho. The election was officially nonpartisan. Incumbent mayor Lauren McLean won re-election to a second term in office, defeating former Boise police chief Mike Masterson and two other candidates.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Health Freedom Idaho</span> State-level anti-vaccination group

Health Freedom Idaho is an anti-vaccine group that also opposes health regulations, such as mask requirements and restrictions on the operation of businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Founded sometime shortly before October 2016, the organization describes its mission as including "preserv[ing] our freedoms in regard to the health care of our choice." While the group's activities have mainly taken place in the Boise area, the organization has a northern chapter.
