The Liga ACB Presentation Games were exhibition matches at the start of a basketball season organised by the Spanish basketball league in the early 90s and they lasted for two seasons in 1990-91 and 1991-92. The games were both hosted in Palau Sant Jordi, in Barcelona, the home arena of Barcelona at the time. The main attraction of those exhibition games which could also be considered equivalent to the Spanish All-Star Game were the participations of NBA superstars: Michael Jordan [1] in the 1990 edition and his teammate in the Chicago Bulls, Scottie Pippen and Philadelphia 76ers player Charles Barkley in the 1991 edition. David Robinson of San Antonio Spurs was also part of the 1991 edition but a hamstring injury kept him on the bench for the entire match.
The game was a contest between the Orange (Narranja) and the Blues (Azul), teams which included the best players of the Liga ACB, a league considered the top in Europe, alongside the Italian. The NBA invitees would play for both teams, one half for each. Jordan had not won any NBA championship when he participated in the 1990 Liga ACB Presentation Game, [2] but he would go on to win 6 rings in his career.

Scotty Maurice Pippen Sr., usually spelled Scottie Pippen, is an American former professional basketball player. He played 17 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), winning six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls. Considered one of the greatest small forwards of all time, Pippen, along with Michael Jordan, played an important role in transforming the Bulls into a championship team and in popularizing the NBA around the world during the 1990s.
Toni Kukoč, nicknamed “The Waiter” is a Croatian-American former professional basketball player who serves as Special Advisor to Jerry Reinsdorf, the owner of the Chicago Bulls. The 1990–91 NBA season was the Bulls' 25th season in the National Basketball Association. During the off-season, the Bulls acquired Dennis Hopson from the New Jersey Nets, and signed free agent Cliff Levingston. The Bulls overcame a slow start, losing their first three games of the season, as they later on went on an 11-game winning streak between February and March, held a 32–14 record at the All-Star break, then posted a nine-game winning streak also in March. The Bulls finished in first place in the Eastern Conference with a 61–21 record, surpassing their previous franchise-best from the 1971–72 season. The Bulls had the best team offensive rating and the seventh best team defensive rating in the NBA.

The 1990–91 NBA season was the 76ers 42nd season in the National Basketball Association, and 28th season in Philadelphia. During the off-season, the Sixers acquired 7' 7" center Manute Bol from the Golden State Warriors, and signed free agent Ricky Green. The Sixers got off to a 19–8 start to the season, but would lose 10 of their next 16 games. Johnny Dawkins sustained a major knee injury early in the season after only just four games, and was replaced by Green as starting point guard, while Mike Gminski was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Armen Gilliam at midseason. However, the team posted a 7-game winning streak between February and March, held a 25–21 record at the All-Star break, and finished second in the Atlantic Division with a record of 44–38, which was nine wins less than the previous season.
The 1990–91 NBA season was the Rockets' 24th season in the National Basketball Association, and 20th season in the city of Houston. In the off-season, the Rockets acquired Kenny Smith from the Atlanta Hawks. The Rockets continued to play .500 basketball during the first half of the season, as Hakeem Olajuwon missed 25 games due to a bone fracture in his right eye. However, the Rockets showed improvement by holding a 27–21 record at the All-Star break, posting a 14–1 record in March, which included a 13-game winning streak. They finished third in the Midwest Division with a 52–30 record.

During the off-season, the Spurs acquired Paul Pressey from the Milwaukee Bucks. After a promising rookie season from second-year star David Robinson, the Spurs would win 17 of their first 22 games, holding a 32–13 record at the All-Star break. However, with Terry Cummings and Rod Strickland lost for long stretched games due to hand injuries, the team struggled in February with a 4–7 record. At midseason, the team released Reggie Williams to free agency, and signed free agent Avery Johnson, who was previously released by the Denver Nuggets. The Spurs would bounce back winning 13 of their final 17 games as they won the Midwest Division with a solid 55–27 record.

They share the facilities with the roller hockey, futsal, and handball teams of the club.

The men's national basketball team of the United States won the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Led by Basketball Hall of Fame head coach Lenny Wilkens, the team won gold for the second straight Olympics. Nicknamed Dream Team III, the team included five players who were Olympic teammates on the original "Dream Team", from the 1992 Olympic basketball tournament: Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, John Stockton, and David Robinson.
