The following is a list of Bangladesh national football team managers, first established in 1972 with the appointment of Sheikh Shaheb Ali. [1]
After the Independence of Bangladesh, a de facto national team coached by Sheikh Shaheb Ali, called Dhaka XI, was active from May 1972 to August 1972. [2] [3] In 1973, the Bangladesh Football Federation became affiliated with the Asian Football Confederation. In July 1973, the official Bangladesh national football team, coached by Shaheb Ali, participated in the Merdeka Tournament. [4] In 1978, German coach, Werner Bickelhaupt was appointed for the 1978 Asian Games, making him the national team's first foreign coach. [5] Anwar Hossain is the first and only coach to date who helped Bangladesh qualify for the AFC Asian Cup in 1980, while Abdur Rahim is the first and only coach to have managed the team in the main tournament. [6]
Following his initial appointment for the 1975 Merdeka Tournament, Abdur Rahim holds a record of seven individual appointments, with his last coming for the 1990 Asian Games. [7] German coach Otto Pfister holds the record of winning Bangladesh its first international trophy, the 4-nation Tiger Trophy held in Myanmar. [8] Bangladesh won its first South Asian Games gold medal under Iraqi coach Samir Shaker in 1999 [9] and secured its first SAFF Championship title under Austrian coach György Kottán in 2003. [10] English coach Jamie Day, who coached Bangladesh from May 2018 to September 2021, holds the record for managing the most games (29) and securing the most victories (9) for the team. [11]

The Bangladesh national football team is the national recognised football team of Bangladesh and is controlled by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). It is a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) since 1973 and of FIFA since 1976, even though the Bangladesh Football Federation was first founded in 1972. Bangladesh was elected as a member of the AFC Executive Committee in 1982–1986 and 1998–2002. The current Executive Committee was elected democratically, under an AFC approved constitution and direct supervision of FIFA & AFC, in October 2020.
Sayeed Hassan Kanan is a former Bangladeshi footballer who played as a goalkeeper. During his playing days, he was popularly known by his nickname Kanan, pronounced Ka-non.
Dhaka Senior Division Football League, or the First Division Football League, is the third tier football league in Bangladesh. Until 2006, it was the top-tier league of the country. It was officially established in 1948 as Dhaka League, while modern-day Bangladesh was still part of Pakistan. Until 1971, it was run in parallel with the National Football Championship in West Pakistan.
Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited is a Bangladeshi professional football club based in Dhaka. Founded in 1936, it is one of the oldest and one of the most successful football clubs in the country, with a support base in all parts of the country. The club currently competes in the Bangladesh Premier League.
Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society is a Bangladeshi professional football club based in Old Dhaka. Founded in 1933, the club is currently competing in the Bangladesh Premier League. It was also a team of Bangladesh Championship League, until gaining promotion in the 2014 season. Haji Md. Salim MP is the current president and Imteaz Hamid Sabuj is the general secretary.
Monwar Hossain Nannu was a Bangladeshi football player during the 1970s and early 1980s. Initially, he played as an attacking midfielder for Abahani Krira Chakra in Dhaka League. Following an injury in the mid-1970s, he moved to the central defender position and excelled in that position as well. He was a member of Bangladesh's first national football team.
Victoria Sporting Club, commonly known as Victoria SC, is a football club based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Founded in 1903, the club competes in the Dhaka Second Division League, the fourth tier of football in Bangladesh. They were relegated from the Bangladesh Championship League and Dhaka Senior Division League in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Dhaka Wanderers Club is a Bangladeshi professional football club from Motijheel area of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It currently competes in the Bangladesh Premier League, the top flight of Bangladeshi football, having gained promotion from the 2023–24 Bangladesh Championship League.
Hassan Al-Mamun is a Bangladeshi former professional footballer who played as a defender. He was mainly deployed as a full back who could play on both sides of the field. He represented the Bangladesh national team from 1995 to 2008. He currently works as an assistant coach for the national team under Javier Cabrera.
Khandoker Wasim Iqbal is a retired Bangladeshi football player and coach. He mainly played as a right winger, and was one of the most recognised players during the early years of Bangladeshi football. He was a prominent member of the Bangladesh national football team during the majority of the 80s.
Sawpan Kumar Das is a retired Bangladeshi football player and coach. He captained the Bangladesh national football team once during his international career.
Shahidur Rahman Chowdhury , known by his nickname Shantoo, is a former Bangladeshi football player and manager.
Hasanuzzaman Khan Bablu is a retired Bangladeshi football player and coach. At the club level, Bablu is most well known for representing Gopibagh-based Brothers Union. In Dhaka football, he has scored 75 goals including a hattrick. Bablu also represented the Bangladesh national team in the 1980 AFC Asian Cup and played for his country between 1975 and 1982. After retiring, he managed the national team as an interim in 2000, 2003 and 2006.
Saifur Rahman Moni is a former Bangladeshi professional football coach and former player who currently serves as the head coach of Bangladesh Premier League club Dhaka Wanderers.
Bangladesh B is a secondary football team run occasionally as support for the Bangladesh national football team.
Azmol Hossain Biddyut is a Bangladeshi professional football coach and former player, who currently serves as the head coach of Bangladesh Premier League club Brothers Union.
Abdur Rahim was a Bangladeshi football manager and player. He represented the Pakistan national team during his playing career and was later head coach of the Bangladesh national team on a record seven different appointments, including for the country's maiden AFC Asian Cup appearance. In 1980 he received the National Sports Awards, for his contribution to Bangladeshi football.
Abdul Motaleb was a Bangladeshi former football coach and player. He was a member of the first Bangladesh national football team in 1973.
Abdul Gafur Baloch was a football player and coach. Born in Pakistan during the British regime, he was granted Bangladeshi citizenship due to his contribution to the country's football.
Wazed Gazi was a Bangladeshi football player and coach.
