There have been 38 different coaches who have taken the role as manager of the Netherlands national football team. The team's first coach was Cees van Hasselt, who took charge of their first match against Belgium in 1905. [1] Bob Glendenning holds the record for the longest tenure as Netherlands coach, having served in the role for a total of 16 years over two spells: in 1923, and from 1925 to 1940. He also coached the Netherlands team the most times in history with 87 matches, 24 more than second-placed coach Louis van Gaal. Louis van Gaal has the most wins as coach with 40 wins. [2]

Jari Olavi Litmanen is a Finnish former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder or a second striker. He was the first-choice captain of the Finland national team between 1996 and 2008 in an international career that ran from 1989 to 2010. Litmanen is widely considered to be Finland's greatest football player of all time. He was chosen as the best Finnish player of the last 50 years by the Football Association of Finland in the UEFA Jubilee Awards in November 2003. He also finished 42nd in the 100 Greatest Finns voting in 2004. The Association of Football Statisticians' compendium of 'Greatest Ever Footballers' listed Litmanen as the 53rd best footballer ever.
Patrick Stephan Kluivert is a Dutch former football player, coach and sporting director. He played as a striker, most notably for Ajax, Barcelona and the Netherlands national team. He was most recently the manager of Süper Lig club Adana Demirspor.
Franklin Edmundo Rijkaard is a Dutch former footballer and former manager who played as a defensive midfielder. Regarded as one of the best midfielders in footballing history, Rijkaard was described by British broadsheet The Daily Telegraph as having been "a stylish player of faultless pedigree".
Aloysius Paulus Maria "Louis" van Gaal is a Dutch former football player and former manager who currently serves as an advisor for Ajax. At club level, he served as manager of Ajax, Barcelona, AZ Alkmaar, Bayern Munich and Manchester United, as well as having three spells in charge of the Netherlands national team. Van Gaal is one of the most decorated managers in the history of the game, having won 20 major honours in his managerial career at club level, contrasting with his mediocre results coaching the Dutch national team.
