SK Brann is a Norwegian football club from Bergen, Norway. [1] The club was founded in 1908 and is one of the most popular in Norway. They have won Eliteserien three times, and the Norwegian Football Cup seven times. As of 2024 Brann have played in the top tier of Norwegian football for 67 seasons, the second most of any club. Since 2022 Brann have had a women's team playing in Toppserien.

The 2014 Tippeligaen was the 70th completed season of top division football in Norway. The competition began on 28 March 2014, two weeks later than in the previous season. A three-week summer-break in June was scheduled due to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and the decisive match was played on 9 November 2014. Strømsgodset were the defending champions. Bodø/Glimt and Stabæk joined as the promoted clubs from the 2013 1. divisjon. They replaced Tromsø and Hønefoss who were relegated to the 2014 1. divisjon.

A promotion/relegation play-off between the third-from-bottom team of the Tippeligaen and the winner of the promotion play-offs of the 2016 1. divisjon was contested on 30 November and 4 December 2016.
