The 2015 1. divisjon (referred to as the OBOS-ligaen for sponsorship reasons) was a Norwegian second-tier football league season. The league was contested by 16 teams, and the top two teams were promoted to Tippeligaen, while the teams placed from third to sixth place played a promotion-playoff against the 14th-placed team in Tippeligaen to win promotion. The bottom four teams were relegated to the 2. divisjon. [1]

Contents

The first round of the season was played on 6 April 2015 and the season ended with the last round on 1 November 2015. The playoff-tournament was played between 7 and 21 November 2015. [2]

An agreement with Oslo's housing cooperative OBOS was signed on 15 January 2015, branding the league as OBOS-ligaen until 2021. [3]

Team changes from 2014

In the 2014 1. divisjon, Sandefjord, [4] Tromsø [4] and Mjøndalen [5] won promotion to Tippeligaen, while Alta, HamKam, Tromsdalen and Ull/Kisa were relegated [4] to the 2015 2. divisjon.

Sogndal, [6] Sandnes Ulf [6] and Brann, [5] were relegated from the 2014 Tippeligaen, while Follo, Jerv, Levanger and Åsane were promoted [7] from the 2014 2. divisjon.

The competition began on 23 March 2012 and ended on 18 November 2012, with a summer break from 28 May to 30 June. Molde were the defending champions, while Hønefoss and Sandnes Ulf entered as the promoted teams from the 2011 1. divisjon. They replaced Start and Sarpsborg 08 who were relegated to the 2012 1. divisjon.

The 2015 La Manga Cup is an exhibition international club football (soccer) competition featuring football club teams from Europe, which was held in February and March 2015. All matches were played in La Manga Stadium in La Manga Club, Spain. This was the eighteenth La Manga Cup.

The 2015 season was Sogndal's first season back in the OBOS-ligaen following their relegation at the end of the 2014 season. They finished the season as Champions, whilst also reaching the Third Round of the Norwegian Cup where they were defeated by Hønefoss.

Øygarden Fotballklubb was a Norwegian association football club located in Øygarden, Vestland. Founded in 2020, they took over the elite license from Nest-Sotra and began playing in the 1. divisjon, the second tier of the Norwegian football league system. Øygarden FK was a cooperation between Øygarden clubs Nordre Fjell, Sund SK, Skogsvåg IL, Telavåg IL, Skjergard IL and Nest-Sotra. In 2019, the clubs agreed to establish a new elite team. The club went bankrupt in May 2022.
