Sir Mark Cavendish KBE is a Manx professional racing cyclist for UCI WorldTeam Astana Qazaqstan Team. [1] Originally a track cyclist in the madison, points race, and scratch race, he has also competed on the road since 2006.
Cavendish is a cycling sprinter, and is a prolific winner of individual stages in stage races. Cavendish has won a record 35 Tour de France stages. With 55 Grand Tour stage victories he is third on the all-time list, and his 165 professional victories – as of 12 November 2024 – rank him second of all time. [2]

He was the winner of the 2011 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award, becoming the third cyclist (at the time) to win the award, after Tom Simpson and Chris Hoy. [29]
Alessandro Petacchi is an Italian former professional road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 1996 and 2015. A specialist sprinter, Petacchi has won 48 grand tour stages with wins of the points jersey in the Giro d'Italia in 2004, the Vuelta a España in 2005 and the Tour de France in 2010. He also won the classics Milan – San Remo in 2005 and Paris–Tours in 2007. His career spanned over 18 years during which he earned 183 victories.
Roger De Vlaeminck is a Belgian former professional racing cyclist. He was described by Rik Van Looy as "The most talented and the only real classics rider of his generation". Nicknamed "The Gypsy" because he was born into a family of traveling clothiers, he is known for exploits in the cobbled classic Paris–Roubaix race, but his performances in other "Monument" races gave him a record that few can match. His record in Paris–Roubaix earned him another nickname, "Monsieur Paris–Roubaix".
Sir Mark Simon Cavendish is a retired Manx professional road racing cyclist. As a track cyclist he specialised in the madison, points race, and scratch race disciplines; as a road racer he was a sprinter. He is widely considered one of the greatest road sprinters of all time, and in 2021 was called "the greatest sprinter in the history of the Tour and of cycling" by Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France. He holds the record for most stage wins at the Tour de France (35), achieved across 15 Tours and 17 years (2008-2024).
Tyler Farrar is an American former road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2003 and 2017 for the Jelly Belly–Carlsbad Clothing Company, Health Net–Maxxis, Cofidis, Garmin–Sharp and Team Dimension Data squads.
Matthew Harley Goss is a former Australian professional road and track racing cyclist, his final professional team before retirement was the UCI Professional Continental team ONE Pro Cycling. He first competed in track cycling before making a transition to the road. He won a gold medal at the 2006 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in the Team Pursuit event and came in second place at the 2011 World Championships Road race. He also won the 2010 GP Ouest-France, the 2011 Milan–San Remo as well as 2 stages of the Giro d'Italia, among other victories.
Peter Robert Kennaugh MBE is a Manx former professional racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2010 and 2019 for Team Sky and Bora–Hansgrohe. In 2012 he won the gold medal as part of the Great Britain Team Pursuit team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, becoming the first Manxman in 100 years to win gold. On 5 April 2019, he announced that he was taking an indefinite break from professional cycling to focus on his mental health.

Michael James Matthews is an Australian professional road and track cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Jayco–AlUla.
Elia Viviani is an Italian professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Ineos Grenadiers. On 10 May 2015, Viviani won his first Grand Tour stage victory at the Giro d'Italia, winning stage 2 in a bunch sprint before Moreno Hofland and André Greipel.
Marcel Kittel is a German former racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2011 and 2019 for the Team Giant–Alpecin, Quick-Step Floors and Team Katusha–Alpecin squads. As a junior, he specialised in time trials, even winning a bronze medal in the World Championships for cyclists aged under 23. When he became a professional in 2011, he specialised in bunch sprints, winning 19 stages across the three Grand Tours, and taking 89 wins in his professional career.
Nacer Bouhanni is a French former professional racing cyclist, who competed as a professional from 2011 to 2023. A sprinter, he was the winner of the 2012 French National Road Race Championships. Although his first Grand Tour was in 2012, his real breakthrough was in 2014 when he won three stages and the points classification in the Giro d'Italia. In August 2014 it was announced that Bouhanni would leave FDJ and join Cofidis on an initial two-year deal from 2015.
Giacomo Nizzolo is an Italian racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team.
Simon Philip Yates is a British professional road and track racing cyclist who rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Jayco–AlUla. His twin brother is Adam Yates, who is also a professional cyclist. He won the gold medal in the points race at the 2013 Track Cycling World Championships. Following a doping ban in 2016, he won the young rider classification in the 2017 Tour de France and the general classification in the 2018 Vuelta a España. Yates has taken more than thirty professional victories, including ten Grand Tour stage victories – six at the Giro d'Italia and two each at the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. Simon has been a resident of Andorra since 2015.
Danny van Poppel is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe.
Caleb Ewan is an Australian road and track bicycle racer who rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Jayco–AlUla. A sprinter, Ewan has a style similar to that of Mark Cavendish, taking an extremely low position that offers him an aerodynamic advantage.
Niccolò Bonifazio is an Italian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam Team Corratec–Vini Fantini.
Fernando Gaviria Rendón is a Colombian professional road and track racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Movistar Team. He is well known as a sprinter. Riding for the Colombian national cycling team, Gaviria came to international attention at the 2015 Tour de San Luis, where he beat former world champion Mark Cavendish in two sprint finishes. His first major Grand Tour wins came at the 2017 Giro d'Italia. He is the brother of track cyclist Juliana Gaviria. His nickname is "Quetzal splendente", from the brightful and colourful South American bird Quetzal. Its colours recall his world championship titles, his Colombia and "la maglia Ciclamino" won at Giro d'Italia.
Jakub Mareczko is an Italian road cyclist of Polish origin, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam Team Corratec–Vini Fantini. A sprinter, Mareczko was described by the Italian national cycling coach Davide Cassani as one of the best young hopes for Italian cycling.
Pascal Ackermann is a German cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam Israel Premier Tech Academy.
Jasper Philipsen is a Belgian professional cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Alpecin–Deceuninck. Specialising as a sprinter, he has won nine stages in the Tour de France and three in the Vuelta a España, and the points classification in the 2023 Tour de France.
