The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III includes 241 teams. Each team has one head coach. [1] As of the 2024 season, Division III is composed of 31 conferences: the American Rivers Conference (ARC), American Southwest Conference (ASC), Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), Centennial Conference, Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC), Empire 8, Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC), Landmark Conference, Liberty League, Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC), Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), Midwest Conference (MWC), Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), Northwest Conference (NWC), Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), Southern Athletic Association (SAA), Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), USA South Athletic Conference, and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
As of the start of the 2023 season, the longest-tenured coach in Division III, and all of college football[ citation needed ], is expected to be Norm Eash of Illinois Wesleyan, who has been head coach at the school since 1987. In all, 21 Division III programs will have new head coaches in 2023.

He was the third head coach of the Minnesota Vikings in 1984, and he has also worked as an assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Bob Valesente is a former American football player and coach. He played college football at Ithaca College and spent more than 35 years as a football coach. He was the head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks football team from 1986 to 1987 and has also served as an assistant football coach in the National Football League (NFL) with multiple teams.
The Indiana Hoosiers football program represents Indiana University Bloomington in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football and in the Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers have played their home games at Memorial Stadium since 1960. The team has won the Big Ten Championship twice, once in 1945 and again in 1967. The Hoosiers have appeared in 12 bowl games, including the 1968 Rose Bowl. Six Indiana players have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, including Zora Clevinger, Bill Ingram, Pete Pihos, George Taliaferro, John Tavener, and Anthony Thompson, who was also National Player of the Year in 1989. The Hoosiers are currently led by head coach Curt Cignetti. Currently, the Indiana Hoosiers hold the record for most lifetime losses by a Division I team (713), and the third worst winning percentage (42%) of any Division I team with over 1000 games played. Since 1895, only six of the 25 head coaches have left Indiana University with a winning record. The last one being Bo McMillan in 1947.
Darian Hagan is an American former professional football player in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football as a quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, earning national player of the year and All-American honors in 1989. After his playing career from 2005 to 2022, Hagan was an assistant coach for his alma mater, the University of Colorado Boulder.

The Bethel Royals football program represents Bethel University of Arden Hills, Minnesota in college football. Bethel competes at the NCAA Division III level as members of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). The head coach of the Royals is Mike McElroy, who has held the position since 2024.
The York Lions Football team represents York University in Toronto, Ontario, in the sport of Canadian football in U Sports. The York Lions football team has been in continuous operation since 1968 and are one of two teams currently playing in U Sports football to have never won a conference championship. The other team, the Sherbrooke Vert et Or, did not begin their current program until 2003.
Klint Alexander Kubiak is an American football coach who is the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He has coached in the NFL and college following his playing career at Colorado State University. Kubiak served as Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator in 2021. He is the son of Gary Kubiak, former head coach of the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos.
Sean Desai is an American football coach who is a Senior defensive assistant for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He is the first NFL coordinator of Indian descent. He previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, as well as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks, Boston College, University of Miami and Temple University.
Mike Tressel is an American football coach who is currently the defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach for the Wisconsin Badgers. Tressel, the nephew of former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel, joined the University of Cincinnati's football coaching staff under Mark Dantonio in 2004. Tressel followed Dantonio to Michigan State when he was hired there in December 2006. He was named the acting head coach when Dantonio announced his retirement in February 2020. Tressel was one of two Dantonio assistants retained by Dantonio's successor, Mel Tucker.

Tim Polasek is an American college football coach and former player. He is currently the head football coach at North Dakota State University. Prior to becoming the 32nd Head Coach in program history at NDSU, he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for 3 seasons (2021,2022,2023) at the University of Wyoming under former Bison head coach, Craig Bohl. He also served as the offensive coordinator at North Dakota State University in Fargo for three seasons from 2014-2016 where he helped the Bison to two consecutive NCAA Division I Football Championships in addition to winning two more National Championships as a position coach (2011,2012) He spent the 2013 season coaching Tight ends and fullbacks at Northern Illinois before returning to NDSU for the 2014 season. The 2024 season will be his 11th season (total) on staff for the Bison and his third stint in Fargo
James Willie Rowe III is an American football coach who is currently the defensive passing game coordinator for the University of South Florida. In 2021, he was the cornerbacks coach for the Indianapolis Colts. A 15-year coaching veteran, Rowe has four seasons of experience in the NFL. He was a three-year letterwinner (2005–07) as a baseball player at South Florida.
Seth Wallace is an American college football coach. He is the assistant head coach for the University of Iowa. He played college football at Coe College as a wide receiver.
The 2023 North Carolina Tar Heels football team represented the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tar Heels were led by head coach Mack Brown, who was in the fifth season of his second stint at North Carolina and 15th overall season at the university. The team played their home games at Kenan Memorial Stadium.
The 2024 Cornell Big Red football team will represent Cornell University as a member of the Ivy League during the 2024 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The team will be led by first-year head coach Dan Swanstrom and will play its home games at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, New York.
