The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III includes 242 teams. Each team has one head coach. [1] As of the 2025 season, Division III is composed of 29 conferences: the American Rivers Conference (ARC), American Southwest Conference (ASC), College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), Centennial Conference, Conference of New England (CNE), Empire 8, Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC), Landmark Conference, Liberty League, Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC), Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), Midwest Conference (MWC), Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), Northwest Conference (NWC), Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), Southern Athletic Association (SAA), Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), USA South Athletic Conference, and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
As of the start of the 2025 season, the longest-tenured coach in Division III, is expected to be Geno DeMarco of Geneva, who has been head coach at the school since 1993. In all, 22 Division III programs have new head coaches in 2025.

Richard Gerald Neuheisel Jr. is an American football analyst, coach, and former player. He served as the head football coach at the University of Colorado Boulder from 1995 to 1999, at the University of Washington from 1999 to 2002, and at his alma mater, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), from 2008 to 2011, compiling a career college football coaching record of 87–59. From 2005 to 2007, Neuheisel was an assistant coach with the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL), as quarterbacks coach for two seasons and offensive coordinator for one. He formerly served as head coach for the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) before the collapse of the league. Before coaching, Neuheisel played quarterback for the UCLA Bruins from 1980 to 1983, then spent two seasons with the San Antonio Gunslingers of the United States Football League (USFL) before splitting the 1987 NFL season between the San Diego Chargers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Stephen Sarkisian is an American football coach and former player who is the head football coach at the University of Texas at Austin. He previously was the head football coach at the University of Washington from 2009 to 2013 and the University of Southern California (USC) from 2014 to 2015.
The Washington Huskies football team represents the University of Washington in college football. Washington competed in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) as a member of the Big Ten Conference, after having been a charter member of the Pac-12 Conference until the end of the 2023-2024 season. Husky Stadium, located on campus in Seattle, has been the Huskies' home field since 1920.
Kevin Reece Wilson is an American college football coach and former player. He was the head coach at the University of Tulsa from 2023–2024. He was the offensive coordinator at Ohio State University from 2017 to 2022. Wilson was head coach at Indiana University from 2011 to 2016, and offensive coordinator at the University of Oklahoma from 2002 to 2010.
Kelaokalani Fifita "Kalani" Sitake is a Tongan–American football coach and former player. He has been the head football coach at Brigham Young University (BYU) since 2015, and is the first Tongan to become a collegiate football head coach. Sitake played college football as a fullback for the BYU Cougars under coach LaVell Edwards, and graduated in 2000. Prior to becoming head coach at BYU, Sitake was the defensive coordinator and associate head coach at the University of Utah, and the defensive coordinator and associate head coach at Oregon State University (OSU). He was inducted into the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame on January 18, 2025.
The Wisconsin–Whitewater Warhawks football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The team competes in NCAA Division III and is a member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). Wisconsin-Whitewater's first football team was fielded in 1889. The team plays its home games at the 13,500-seat Perkins Stadium in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Jace Rindahl has served as the head coach for the Warhawks since 2023, taking over for eight-year head coach Kevin Bullis.
James Walter Hopson is an American college football coach and former player. He was most recently the cornerbacks coach for the University of South Alabama from 2023 to 2024. He has been a head coach at Southern Miss and Alcorn State. In the latter role, he was the first white head football coach in the history of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, an organization composed of historically black colleges and universities. Hopson has also served as an assistant coach at Tulane, Delta State, LSU, Florida, Marshall, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Michigan, and Memphis.
Rich Skrosky is an American college football coach and former player. He is a senior analyst for Duke. He was hired as head football coach at Elon University for the 2014 season. Skrosky served as an assistant coach at Elon under Pete Lembo from 2006 to 2010. Lembo's tenure brought new success to Elon's football program, which made its first FCS playoff appearance in 2009. Lembo was hired as head coach at Ball State University after the 2010 season. Skrosky joined Lembo's staff as offensive coordinator.
The Bethel Royals football program represents Bethel University of Arden Hills, Minnesota in college football. Bethel competes at the NCAA Division III level as members of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). The head coach of the Royals is Mike McElroy, who has held the position since 2024.
Thomas E. Allen is an American college football coach who is the defensive coordinator at Clemson University. He previously served as the head coach at Indiana University Bloomington from 2017 to 2023, and was the defensive coordinator at Pennsylvania State University for the 2024 season. He was named the 2020 Big Ten Coach of the Year and AFCA Coach of the Year.
Klint Alexander Kubiak is an American football coach who is the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He has coached in the NFL and college following his playing career at Colorado State University. Kubiak served as Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator in 2021 and for the New Orleans Saints in 2024. He is the son of Gary Kubiak, former head coach of the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos.
James Paul Lake is an American football coach who was most recently the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). Previously, he was the head coach for the Washington Huskies from 2020 to 2021. Lake has coached at both the National Football League (NFL) and college football levels, primarily overseeing defensive backs. He played college football as a strong safety at Eastern Washington from 1995–1998.
Sherrone Banfield Moore is an American college football coach and former player. He is the head football coach for the University of Michigan. Moore served as Michigan's acting head coach in four games during the national championship-winning 2023 season. He succeeded Jim Harbaugh as head coach in 2024.
Ryan Walters is an American college football coach who is the defensive coordinator for the University of Washington. He played college football for Colorado from 2004 to 2008. He then served as the defensive coordinator for the Missouri Tigers (2018–2020) and on the Illinois Fighting Illini (2021–2022). He was also the head football coach of the Purdue Boilermakers (2023–2024).
James Christopher Strausser is an American football coach who was recently the offensive line coach for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He was previously the offensive line coach for the Colts in 2022. He was the offensive line coach for tackles for the Denver Broncos in 2018, and the assistant offensive line coach for them in 2017. Prior to his stint with the Broncos, he was a college football coach who had worked at programs such as Boise State, Colorado, and Washington.
Tim Polasek is an American college football coach and former player. He is currently the head football coach at North Dakota State. Prior to becoming the 32nd head coach in program history, he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2021–2023 at Wyoming under former Bison head coach, Craig Bohl.
Ryan Grubb is an American football coach who most recently served as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Washington from 2022 to 2023. Alabama quaterback coach 2025 Grubb played college football at Buena Vista University as a running back and wide receiver from 1994 to 1997. Prior to his tenure for the Seattle Seahawks, Grubb previously served as an assistant coach at the University of Washington, California State University, Fresno, Eastern Michigan University, the University of Sioux Falls and South Dakota State University.

The Wartburg Knights football program is the intercollegiate American football team for Wartburg College located in Waverly, Iowa. The team competes in the NCAA Division III and a member of the American Rivers Conference (ARC). Wartburg's first football team was fielded in 1929 with varsity play starting in 1935. The team plays its home games at Walston-Hoover stadium in Waverly, Iowa.
Greg Breitbach is an American former college football coach. He was the head football coach for Millersville University of Pennsylvania from 2013 to 2017 and the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point from 2018 to 2021.
