In the film industry and television, the most popular comedy in Indonesia today is stand up comedy, such as that performed by Stand Up Indo. Several TV networks air stand up comedy shows, including Kompas TV with its program Stand Up Comedy Indonesia (SUCI). After SUCI was introduced, other networks like Metro TV and Indosiar have likewise introduced comedy shows.

Satan's Slaves is a 2017 Indonesian supernatural horror film written and directed by Joko Anwar. It is a loose remake-prequel to the 1980 film of the same name directed by Sisworo Gautama Putra based on a story by Subagio S. The plot follows a family who are haunted by the death of their mother, who dies after being bedridden for three years from a strange and debilitating illness.
Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 is the 2017 Indonesian religious drama film that was released on December 21, 2017 and directed by Guntur Soehardjanto, who previously won nine awards at the 2005 Indonesian Film Festival through his work Juli di Bulan Juni. It is a sequel from Ayat-Ayat Cinta (2008). The plot follows Fahri, who has become a professor in Edinburgh, Scotland. He lives well without Aisha, his wife who is missing for months when she served as a volunteer in the Gaza Strip. While waiting for news of his wife, he faces many problems from romance to distress for being a Muslim in Europe where Islamophobia is surging throughout the place.
Hannah Al Rashid is a British-Indonesian actress, model, and activist. Of Bugis and French descent, she is mostly known for her works in Indonesian films and television. For her role in Aruna & Her Palate (2018), she received Citra Award and Maya Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress.
Milea is a 2020 Indonesian language romantic drama film directed by Fajar Bustomi and Pidi Baiq, and written by Baiq and Titien Wattimena. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Baiq and is the sequel to Dilan 1991 released in 2019. The film is a spin-off, having its point of view from Dilan and displaying events uncaptured in the previous two films. The film was distributed to Netflix on 13 June 2020, and premiered on SCTV on 25 August 2020.
KKN di Desa Penari is a 2022 Indonesian supernatural horror film directed by Awi Suryadi, based on a viral Twitter thread of the same name by SimpleMan, produced by MD Pictures and its subsidiary, Pichouse Films. This film stars Tissa Biani, Adinda Thomas, and Achmad Megantara. This film released on April 30, 2022, previously this film was planned to be released on March 19, 2020, and than on February 24, 2022, but both of the date has pulled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon its release, it became the highest-grossing film in Indonesian history.
Wahjoe Sardono, known mononymously as Dono or Dono Warkop, was an Indonesian actor, comedian, and lecturer. He gained fame as a member of the comedy group Warkop. Born in Delanggu, Klaten, Dono began his career while still a student at the University of Indonesia (UI), where he worked as a caricaturist and social activist. He later became a teaching assistant for sociology professor Selo Soemardjan, teaching several general lectures and group sessions alongside Paulus Wirutomo.
Kasino Hadiwibowo, better known by his mononym Kasino, was an Indonesian actor and comedian. He was a member of the comedy group Warkop. Born in Gombong, Kebumen, Kasino displayed an interest in humor from his school days. His career as a comedian began to take off while he was studying at the University of Indonesia. Alongside Nanu Moeljono and Rudy Badil, Kasino became a host of the radio show Obrolan Malam Jumat on Prambors FM, which aired every Thursday night. This show later became the precursor to the Warkop group.

Satan's Slaves 2: Communion also referred to as Satan's Slaves 2 is a 2022 Indonesian supernatural horror film written and directed by Joko Anwar. It is the sequel to the 2017 film Satan's Slaves, itself based on the 1980 film Satan's Slave. It is the first Indonesian film to be released in IMAX format. Upon its release, Anwar indicated plans for a possible third installment in the series.
Ivanna is a 2022 Indonesian horror thriller directed by Kimo Stamboel and written by Lele Laila, starring Caitlin Halderman, Jovarel Callum, Junior Roberts, Shandy William, and Sonia Alyssa. The film story is adapted from a novel written by Risa Saraswati and the film is the spin-off from Danur 2: Maddah and part of Danur universe. This film is inspired by the success of a similarly famous TV series from the 1980s, CHiPs, starring Erik Estrada as Officer Francis Ponchorello.
Vina: Sebelum 7 Hari is a 2024 Indonesian horror thriller film directed by Anggy Umbara based on the true story of the murder of Vina and Eky. Produced by Dee Company Film, the movie stars Nayla D. Purnama, Lydia Kandou, and Gisellma Firmansyah. Vina: Sebelum 7 Hari premiered in Indonesian theaters on May 8, 2024.
