Geographically, the country of Iran is located in West Asia and borders the Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf, and Gulf of Oman. Topographically, it is predominantly located on the Persian Plateau. The Persian Corridor was a supply route through Iran into Soviet Azerbaijan by which British aid and American Lend-Lease supplies were transferred to the Soviet Union during World War II. Of the 17.5 million long tons of US Lend-Lease aid provided to the Soviet Union, 7.9 million long tons (45%) were sent through Iran.

The Gwadar Port is situated on the Arabian Sea at Gwadar in Balochistan province of Pakistan and is under the administrative control of the Maritime Secretary of Pakistan and operational control of the China Overseas Port Holding Company. The port features prominently in the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) plan, and is considered to be a link between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Maritime Silk Road projects. It is about 120 kilometres (75 mi) southwest of Turbat, and 170 kilometres (110 mi) to the east of Chabahar Port.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Chabahar Port</span> Port in Iran

Chabahar Port is a seaport in Chabahar located in southeastern Iran, on the Gulf of Oman. It serves as Iran's only oceanic port, and consists of two separate ports named Shahid Kalantari and Shahid Beheshti, each of which has five berths. It is only about 170 kilometres west of the Pakistani port of Gwadar.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">International North–South Transport Corridor</span> Freight corridor, Moscow to Mumbai

The International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is a 7,200-km long multi-mode network of ship, rail, and road route for moving freight between India, Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, Central Asia and Europe. The route primarily involves moving freight from India, Iran, Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation via ship, rail and road. The objective of the corridor is to increase trade connectivity between major cities such as Mumbai, Moscow, Tehran, Baku, Bandar Abbas, Astrakhan, Bandar Anzali, etc. Dry runs of two routes were conducted in 2014, the first was Mumbai to Baku via Bandar Abbas and the second was Mumbai to Astrakhan via Bandar Abbas, Tehran and Bandar Anzali. The objective of the study was to identify and address key bottlenecks. The results showed transport costs were reduced by "$2,500 per 15 tons of cargo". Other routes under consideration include via Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Persian Gulf Bridge</span> Bridge in Qeshm–Bandar Abbas, Iran

The Persian Gulf Bridge is a 2.4 km- long road-rail bridge currently under construction, which will link Qeshm Island to Bandar Abbas on mainland Iran. The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was attended by the former President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on 14 March 2011. It will connect Qeshm Island from the historic port of Laft to Pahal port in Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan Province. It is being built by an Iranian company at a cost of € 450 million. It will also connect Qeshm to the main transit corridor linking the Caspian port of Anzali to Bandar Abbas and Chabahar on the Gulf of Oman. Due to several delays caused by disputes and concerns raised by environmentalists, and also due to COVID-19 pandemic, the project was expected to be completed at least by 2016/17, but it is now expected to be completed by either 2023 or 2024.

The 2013–14 Hazfi Cup was the 27th season of the Iranian football knockout competition. Sepahan was the defending champion, but was eliminated by Sanat Naft in Round of 32. The competition started on 4 September 2013 and ended on 14 February 2014. Tractor won the title with defeating Mes Kerman in the final.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">China–Pakistan Economic Corridor</span> Network of infrastructure projects

China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a 3,000 km Chinese infrastructure network project in construction in Pakistan. This sea-and-land-based corridor is aimed to secure and reduce the passage for China's energy imports from the Middle East, by avoiding the existing route from the Straits of Malacca between Malaysia and Indonesia, which, in case of war could be blockaded, and thus hamper the Chinese energy-dependent economic avenues. Developing a deep water port at Gwadar in the Arabian Sea and a well built road and rail line from this port to Xinjiang region in western China would be a shortcut for boosting the trade between Europe and China. In Pakistan, it aims to overcome an electricity shortfall, infrastructural development and modernize transportation networks. Along with shifting it from an agricultural based economic structure to industrial based.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Port of Shahid Rajaee</span> Port in Iran

Port of Shahid Rajaee is one of the two parts in the port of Bandar Abbas, southern Hormozgan Province, Iran, located in the north shores of the Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran. Shahid Rajaee port is about 14.5 kilometers west-southwest of the Port of Bandar Abbas.

Amirabad Special Economic Zone And Port or Amirabad Port of Behshahr is the largest port on the Caspian Sea, and is located in the north of Behshahr County, next to the peninsula and the biosphere reserve of Miankaleh in Iran.
