The Young and the Restless is an American television soap opera created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell for CBS. The show is set in the fictional Genoa City. First broadcast on March 26, 1973, The Young and the Restless was originally broadcast as half-hour episodes, five times a week. The show expanded to one-hour episodes on February 4, 1980. On March 17, 2006, the series began airing previous episodes weeknights on Soapnet until the closure on December 31, 2013, when it moved to TVGN. From July 1, 2013 until 2019, Pop aired previous episodes on weeknights. The series is also syndicated internationally.
Kristoff St. John was an American actor best known for playing Neil Winters on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless from 1991 until his death in 2019. Playing the role of Neil earned him two Daytime Emmy Awards from eleven nominations, and ten NAACP Image Awards. He was also known for his role as Adam Marshall in the NBC soap opera Generations, for which he received two Daytime Emmy Award nominations; and his role as a young Alex Haley on the ABC miniseries Roots: The Next Generations.
Michael Graziadei is an American actor, known for his role as Daniel Romalotti on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless.
Darcy Rose Byrnes is an American and Irish actress, singer and songwriter. She is best known for her roles as Abby Newman on The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, Penny Scavo on Desperate Housewives, Princess Amber on Sofia the First and Elena and the Secret of Avalor, Ikki on The Legend of Korra, and Maricela in Spirit Riding Free. In addition to contributing original music to the show, Byrnes recurs in the role of Harper Schapira, in Season 1 and Season 2, on the Disney+ series Big Shot (2021/2022). In May of 2024, Darcy Rose Byrnes began her run as Mary Lane in the 25th Anniversary production of Reefer Madness: The Musical at The Whitley on Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles. Chris Willman of Variety wrote "Byrnes is a real songbird, and literally wide-eyed in her innocence — part Mary Pickford, part Jeannette McDonald. " And declared "Byrnes feels born to sell the naivete and forlornness of her character’s “Lonely Pew,” with some soprano heft."
Katherine Chancellor is a fictional character from the CBS Daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, portrayed by Jeanne Cooper. Created and introduced by show creator William J. Bell in January 1974, Cooper's Katherine was introduced in an effort to increase the show's struggling ratings. When Bell's plan proved successful, Cooper was signed to a contract. Cooper went on to become one of the longest-running cast members in the show's history, ending her nearly 40-year run on May 3, 2013, five days before her death.
Jill Abbott is a fictional character from the American CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. The longest-running and only remaining original character, Jill was created and introduced by William J. Bell. Originally portrayed by Brenda Dickson, when Dickson departed in 1980, the role was first recast with Deborah Adair. Dickson returned in 1983 and, although she stated that she would never leave the role again, she was replaced by Jess Walton in 1987, who continues in the role to present time.

Bell as an effort to add more African American characters to the cast, the role was portrayed by Victoria Rowell. Rowell left the role in 2000 to pursue other projects and Alexia Robinson was introduced as Alex Perez, a replacement character, shortly after. Rowell later returned in August 2002.
Phyllis Summers is a fictional character from The Young and the Restless, an American soap opera on the CBS network. The character was created and introduced by William J. Bell, and debuted in the episode airing on October 18, 1994. Phyllis was originally and most notably portrayed by actress Michelle Stafford, until 1997, when Stafford was replaced by Sandra Nelson. Nelson continued in the role until 1999, when the character left; upon the character returning in 2000, head writer Kay Alden rehired Stafford. Stafford has been praised for her portrayal, for which she has won two Daytime Emmy Awards, but left the series after nearly sixteen years, with the character being written into a coma; Stafford last appeared on August 2, 2013. The role passed to Gina Tognoni, who debuted on August 11, 2014, and continued for nearly five years until she departed in June 2019, when Stafford re-claimed the role.

Abby Newman is a fictional character from the American CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. The character was introduced on November 13, 2000, as the daughter of Ashley Abbott and Victor Newman. The role was portrayed by Darcy Rose Byrnes as a child until 2008, when the character was rapidly aged to a teenager, with Hayley Erin assuming the role the following year. In 2010, the character rapidly aged to adulthood, with Emme Rylan cast as Erin's replacement. Rylan was let go in 2012 due to budgetary cuts but returned months later in February 2013 on a recurring status following viewer complaints. However, her return was cut short once Rylan vacated the role to join General Hospital as Lulu Spencer. Melissa Ordway was then hired as her recast, who made her debut on April 16, 2013. Rylan compared Abby to her previous role, Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light, saying they were both wealthy heiresses who cause trouble. Upon Abby's return in 2013, Rylan felt that she had become "more mature".

She is the mother of Michael Baldwin and Kevin Fisher. She is known for attracting troublesome men, and being quite troublesome herself. Gloria can be naive at times, always taking things to the extreme. Known for her over-the-top personality, she owned and operated Gloworm, the hottest Genoa City club, until it burned down.

He played Bobby Parezi in the Fox prime time soap opera Melrose Place from 1995 to 1996, and Bobby Marsino on the CBS daytime soap opera, The Young and the Restless (2003–2005). In 2018, Enos was nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Performer, for his role as Roger, an Elvis impersonator and partner to Eileen Davidson's Susan Banks, on the soap opera Days of Our Lives.

Sisters Drucilla and Olivia Barber were known for their ongoing romantic relationships with brothers, Neil and Malcolm Winters. The family is currently represented by patriarch, Neil, "his" daughter, Lily Ashby, and his adopted son, Devon Hamilton. In 2011, The Bold and the Beautiful connected Justin Barber, and his son Marcus Forrester to the Barber family of Genoa City.
Leslie Michaelson is a fictional character from the American CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. Created and introduced by former head writer Maria Arena Bell, the role is portrayed by Angell Conwell, who made her first appearance on the episode that aired on December 2, 2010. Bell introduced Leslie as a high-powered attorney who would air on a recurring status. In December 2012, after two years on recurring, Conwell was placed on contract by executive producer Jill Farren Phelps however, was dropped back to recurring in August 2014, appearing until June 2017. Conwell made a guest appearance on April 25, 2019, to honour Kristoff St. John's character Neil Winters passing, as well as the actor's real life death.
Episode 11,000 is an episode of The Young and the Restless. It aired on September 1, 2016 on CBS. This special episode was heavily promoted and teased in order to celebrate the soap opera's milestone. The episode featured the return of Tristan Rogers and Michael Graziadei as Colin Atkinson and Daniel Romalotti, respectively, and marked the beginning of Nichelle Nichols's guest stint as Lucinda Winters, the estranged mother of Neil Winters. The episode also featured a cameo from the soap's co-creator, Lee Phillip Bell. The plot revolved around Neil and Lucinda's reunion, the exposure of Phyllis Summers and Billy Abbott's affair and Chloe Mitchell's plan to kill Adam Newman, among other stories. The episode also marked the last appearance of Hartley as Adam, whose departure had not been confirmed beforehand. Michael Fairman from On-Air On-Soaps praised the episode and called it the best episode of the year in American soap operas.
