This page contains the lists of airports in Europe by country, grouped by region. The lists include both military air bases and civilian airports.
The five European microstates have no airport within their boundaries, though San Marino does have a small airfield with a grass runway. Each has at least one heliport and all except Monaco are landlocked. The only heliport to have a Schengen border control is in Monaco. For Liechtenstein, San Marino and Vatican City only flights inside the Schengen Area are allowed, due to a lack of border controls. Andorra is more unregulated.
Andorra has no airports for fixed-wing aircraft, [1] but it has Andorra la Vella Heliport in the capital city of Andorra la Vella, as well as heliports in La Massana and Arinsal. The nearest airport is La Seu d'Urgell Airport in Spain, 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) south of the Andorran border, currently used for general aviation, but intended to be developed as a commercial airport, although the short runway limits it to small aircraft. [2] The nearest airports with scheduled commercial service are Carcassonne Airport and Perpignan-Rivesaltes Airport in France, and Lleida-Alguaire Airport in Spain. The nearest major airports are Barcelona-El Prat Airport and Girona-Costa Brava Airport in Spain, and Toulouse-Blagnac Airport in France, which all have transfers to Andorra by bus. [3] [4] All these airports except La Seu d'Urgell need around three hours to reach by car.
Liechtenstein does not have an airport, but does have a heliport in the southern town of Balzers. [5] [6] The nearest international airports are St. Gallen-Altenrhein Airport in Switzerland and Friedrichshafen Airport in Germany, which have few scheduled flights. The nearest major airport is Zurich Airport in Switzerland, which has rail service to Buchs and Sargans. [7] From these towns, it is possible to catch a Postal Bus [7] or a train to Liechtenstein.
Monaco has no airports, but does have Monaco Heliport in the Monégasque district of Fontvieille. [8] The nearest airport is Nice Côte d'Azur Airport in France. [9] The heliport has a Schengen border control, so it is possible to fly from e.g. London or Tunis, although this will take a few hours, and few helicopters have such range. [10]
San Marino does not have a commercial airport, [11] but does have a small airfield in Torraccia with a 680-metre (2,230-foot) grass runway owned by the AeroClub San Marino. [12] There is also a heliport in Borgo Maggiore. The nearest airport is Rimini's Federico Fellini Airport in Italy, with transfers available by bus to San Marino.
Vatican City has no airport and is too small to contain one; the Holy See has a land area of 0.44 km2 (0.17 sq mi), and a maximum width of 900 m (3,000 ft). [13] However, it does have Vatican City Heliport in the western corner, which is used for visiting heads and officials of the city-state. [14] The nearest airport is Rome Ciampino Airport in Italy.
The economy of Vatican City is mainly supported financially by the sale of stamps, coins, medals, and tourist mementos as well as fees for admission to museums and publication sales. Vatican City employed 4,822 people in 2016.
Andorra la Vella is the capital and largest city of Andorra. It is located high in the east Pyrenees, between France and Spain. It is also the name of the parish that surrounds the capital.

A European microstate or European ministate is a very small sovereign state in Europe. In modern usage, it typically refers to the six smallest states in Europe by area: Andorra, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City. Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco and Vatican City are monarchies. These states trace their status back to the first millennium or the early second millennium except for Liechtenstein, created in the 17th century.
Balzers is a municipality and village located in southern Liechtenstein. In 2019, the village had a population of 4,642. The main part of the village is situated along the east bank of the Rhine.
A customs union is the principal area of robust formal agreement between the Principality of Andorra and the European Union (EU). Andorra borders two EU member states: France and Spain.
Arinsal is a village in Andorra, set at an altitude of between 1550 and 2560 metres, close to the border with Spain at Tor, Pallars. In the summer Arinsal is home to walkers and bikers, as well as those who just want to relax in the mountain scenery. In the winter, it offers skiing and snowboarding for beginners, as well as a good selection of runs for intermediates.

Andorra–La Seu d'Urgell Airport is a public airport owned by the government of Catalonia and hosts general aviation and commercial flights. It is located in the municipality of Montferrer i Castellbò in Catalonia, eastern Spain, and serves the city of la Seu d'Urgell and the microstate of Andorra, which is 12 km north of the airport. The airport has a short runway which limits aircraft sizes and the distance to destinations.
Relations between the Republic of San Marino and the European Union (EU) began in February 1983. San Marino is completely surrounded by one EU member state, Italy.
Relations between the Principality of Monaco and the European Union (EU) are primarily conducted through France. Through that relationship Monaco directly participates in certain EU policies. Monaco is an integral part of the EU customs territory and VAT area, and therefore applies most measures on excise duties and VAT. Monaco borders one EU member state: France. However this relationship does not extend to external trade. Preferential trade agreements between the EU and third countries apply only to goods originating from the customs territory – Monaco may not claim EU origin in this respect.
Monaco does not have a visa policy of its own and the Schengen Visa policy applies. Although Monaco is not part of the European Union, or the Schengen Agreement, its territory is part of the Schengen Area by virtue of its customs Union with France as a result of the "Convention on Good Neighbourly Relations of 18 May 1963 on the entry, stay and establishment of foreigners in Monaco" between France and Monaco. The 1963 convention was adapted to allow Monaco to be administered within the Schengen Area as if it were part of France.

Andorra Airlines is a Spanish virtual regional airline headquartered in Barcelona and based at Andorra–La Seu d'Urgell Airport, serving the micro state of Andorra.
