Luis Sera Navarro [a] is a character in the Resident Evil survival horror video game series created by the Japanese company Capcom. He was introduced as a supporting character in Resident Evil 4 (2005) and later appeared in its 2023 remake. He was a biologist who helped protagonist Leon S. Kennedy on his assignment to rescue the President's daughter Ashley Graham.
Because of Peter Jackson's adaptation popularity during the game's development, artist Masaki Yamanaka created and designed Luis to look like J. R. R. Tolkien's Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings . Luis has received mixed reviews from video game publications, particularly for his redesign in the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4. Several journalists have criticized his dialogue where he mocks Ashley's body.
Luis Sera was one of several characters created by artist Masaki Yamanaka for the game Resident Evil 4 (2005). According to Yamanaka, Peter Jackson's adaptations were still popular during the development of Resident Evil 4, and as such, he wanted Luis to resemble Aragorn from J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings to rival protagonist Leon S. Kennedy as "the game's hottest man." [6]
Luis was voiced by American actor Rino Romano in Resident Evil 4, [1] while André Peña in the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4. [2] In Japanese, Kenjiro Tsuda voiced him in the remake of Resident Evil 4, [3] while Michel Di Fiori in Portuguese. [4] He was motion captured by Keiichi Wada in Resident Evil 4. [1] Luis' appearance is based on a face model Meddy in the remake of Resident Evil 4. [5]
Luis first appeared in Resident Evil 4 (2005) as a Spanish investigator, who is familiar with the village where the game takes place. He previously worked with cult leader Osmund Saddler, researching and developing the mind-controlling parasites known as "Las Plagas". [7] After discovering Saddler's evil intentions regarding parasites, Luis attempts to vandalize the cult's plans. He encounters Leon after they are both captured by villagers, and reveals that he is a former Madrid policeman who became dissatisfied with his job. [8] [9] Despite assisting Leon throughout the game, Luis is ultimately killed by Saddler before he can deliver a sample of Las Plagas. [10] [8]
Luis reappears in the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4 with an expanded role that provides more details about his past and full name. [11] In printed trading card media, he appears in the Bandai-produced game Resident Evil: The Deck Building Game. [12]
Thomas McNulty of Screen Rant described him as one of the memorable supporting characters in Resident Evil 4, [11] while Saim Cheeda of TheGamer as one of the best sidekicks and said that he becomes Leon's situational ally in Resident Evil 4, which he finds refreshing. Cheeda stated that his one-liners and ability to arrive at the right time make him a memorable character. [13] Luis' appearance in the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4 has received mixed reviews. His appearance divided fans after he was revealed in Capcom's Resident Evil showcase. Some fans have praised the redesign, while others have noted that it is completely different from his previous appearance and compared him to WWE wrestler Seth Rollins, with some calling him "ugly". [14] However, Jade King of TheGamer described him as a "fan favorite" and "unexpected star" of the game, [15] while Elijah Beahm of DualShockers described him as one of the best in the game. According to him, He is the perfect example of a "great ally NPC" who saves certain scenes in the remake with his sheer charisma, ensuring you have something to look forward to between "Leon's stiff-faced trumping". [16]
A line of Luis mocking Ashley Graham's appearance during their first encounter—"I see that the President's equipped his daughter with ballistics, too"—achieved generally unfavorable reactions from journalists. [17] In the 2021 Resident Evil 4 VR, Luis' quote in the cutscene that refers to Ashley's breasts were removed. [18] Jason Wojnar of TheGamer criticized and described it as a "bad comedy", [19] while Jons Holstrom of Dread Central described it as "cringey" and "gross". As Holstrom points out, it is not appropriate for Luis to casually sexually harass the daughter of the president, or anyone else. He added that Luis makes "suave" remarks, "but that character trope is overused and not effective. He can be cool without being a casual womanizer". [20] After the removal of the line in the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4, some fans have review bombed the game over "wokeness". [21]

Sera and the Third Party (File): The whereabouts of Luis are still unknown. Most likely he's using an old secret passage taught to him by his grandfather, who used to hunt in this region long ago. I'm pretty certain that he's hiding our property somewhere in the forest.
