The Brussels Metro is a rapid transit system serving a large part of the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. It consists of four conventional metro lines and three premetro lines. The metro-grade lines are M1, M2, M5, and M6 with some shared sections, covering a total of 39.9 kilometres (24.8 mi), with 59 metro-only stations. The premetro network consists of three tram lines that partly travel over underground sections that were intended to be eventually converted into metro lines. Underground stations in the premetro network use the same design as metro stations. A few short underground tramway sections exist, so there is a total of 52.0 kilometres (32.3 mi) of underground metro and tram network. There are a total of 69 metro and premetro stations as of 2011.
Arts-Loi (French) or Kunst-Wet (Dutch) is a Brussels Metro station. It is located in the City of Brussels, Belgium, under the intersection of the Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat and the Avenue des Arts/Kunstlaan, the latter street being part of the Small Ring.
The Small Ring inner ring road, formally R20 and N0 is a series of roadways in central Brussels, Belgium, surrounding the historic city centre. The city centre is usually defined as the area within the Small Ring; this area is called the Pentagon due to its pentagonal shape. The pentagon forms the core of the City of Brussels municipality.
The Madou Plaza Tower is a skyscraper in Brussels, Belgium. It was built in 1965, renovated between 2002 and 2006, and taken over by the European Commission. It is located on the Small Ring, in the municipality of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, at 1 place Madou/Madouplein. It hosts the Commission's Directorate-General for Competition.
Porte de Hal or Hallepoort (Dutch) is a rapid transit station in Brussels, Belgium, consisting of both a metro station and a premetro station. The metro station opened on 2 October 1988 and the premetro station opened on 3 December 1993.
Hôtel des Monnaies (French) or Munthof (Dutch) is a Brussels Metro station on the southern segment of lines 2 and 6. It is located under the Small Ring, near Saint Peter's Hospital, in the municipality of Saint-Gilles, south of the City of Brussels, Belgium. One of its entrances is on the Rue de l'Hôtel des Monnaies/Munthofstraat, after which it is named, and where Belgian currency used to be minted.
Louise (French) or Louiza (Dutch) is a Brussels Metro station on the southern segment of lines 2 and 6. It opened on 19 August 1985 and is located under the Small Ring at the Place Louise/Louizaplein, at the end of Avenue Louise/Louizalaan, in the municipality of the City of Brussels, Belgium.
Porte de Namur or Naamsepoort (Dutch) is a Brussels Metro station on the southern segment of lines 2 and 6. It is located under the Small Ring and next to the Chaussée d'Ixelles/Elsense Steenweg, in the municipality of Ixelles, south of the City of Brussels, Belgium.

Botanique (French) or Kruidtuin (Dutch) is a Brussels Metro station on the northern segment of lines 2 and 6. It is located under the Small Ring at the Rue Royale/Koningsstraat in the municipality of the Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, north of the City of Brussels, Belgium. It opened as a premetro station on 18 August 1974 and became a full metro station on 2 October 1988.

Yser (French) or IJzer (Dutch) is a Brussels Metro station on the northern segment of lines 2 and 6. It opened on 2 October 1988 and is located under the Small Ring between the Place Yser/IJzerplein and the Porte d'Anvers/Antwerpsepoort in the municipality of the City of Brussels, Belgium. Its name derives from the river Yser.
The Diamant premetro station is a station on the Brussels Metro located in the municipality of Schaerbeek in Brussels, Belgium. It was inaugurated on May 2, 1972. The station is a "premetro" station. It is thus not used by conventional subway trains, but by Brussels trams. It is one of four subway stations of the so-called Greater Ring axis built in the 1970s, which runs under the greater ring road. This underground station is currently served by tram routes 7 and 25. It offers a connection with bus routes 12, 21, 28, 29 and 79 at ground level.
The Astro Tower is a skyscraper in Brussels, Belgium. It is located on the north-eastern corner of the Small Ring in the municipality of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, just north of the Madou Plaza Tower. The Astro Tower is 107 metres (351 ft) tall, making it one of the tallest buildings in Belgium.
Line 2 on the Brussels Metro is a rapid transit line in Brussels, Belgium operated by STIB/MIVB. It exists in its current form since April 4, 2009, when the section between Delacroix metro station and Gare de l'Ouest/Weststation was opened, which allowed to close the loop from and to Simonis/Elisabeth. The configuration of the Simonis/Elisabeth metro station though does not allow trains on the line 2 to be able to perform the loop several consecutive times in the same direction, i.e. a train running clockwise from Elisabeth will have to run counterclockwise from Simonis. The two termini of line 2 have thus received different names: originally Simonis (Elisabeth) and Simonis , changed in November 2013 to Elisabeth and Simonis. Between the Yser/IJzer metro station and the Porte de Hal/Hallepoort station, the line runs under the small ring road of Brussels, which is itself built on the former Second walls of Brussels.
Albert premetro station is a premetro station located on the border between the municipalities of Saint-Gilles and Forest in Brussels, Belgium. The station is at the crossroad between the Avenue Albert/Albertlaan on the Greater Ring and the Chaussée d'Alsemberg/Alsembergsesteenweg between Forest Park and Saint-Gilles prison. The station is the last stop south of the North–South Axis, a tram tunnel crossing the city centre from Albert to Brussels-North railway station. It is on tram routes 3 and 4 and evening route 33. There is a connection at ground level with tram route 51, as well as bus routes 48 and 54.
The Boileau premetro station is part of the Brussels Metro system. It is located in the municipality of Etterbeek in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. The station opened on 30 January 1975. Named for the nearby Rue Boileaustraat, it is situated on the Sint-Michielslaan/Boulevard Saint-Michel section of the greater ring adjacent to the Boileau tunnel. It is the southernmost and last of the four stations on the greater ring premetro, connecting by Montgomery metro station to the north and the street-level tram halts at Pétillon metro station to the south. The station is served by the 7 and 25 trams and the 36 bus. The Thieffry metro station is situated close by to the west.
The Georges Henri premetro station is part of the Brussels Metro system. It is located in the municipality of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. The station opened on 30 January 1975. Named for the Avenue Georges Henrilaan, which runs perpendicular to the greater ring at the south end of the station, it is located on the Boulevard Brand Whitlocklaan section of the greater ring. It is the second of four stations on the greater ring premetro, connecting by Diamant premetro station to the north and Montgomery metro station to the south. The station is served by the 7 and 25 trams and the 27, 28 and 80 buses.
