Sada Kanta Roy of Forward Bloc defeated Madhu Sudan Roy of Congress in 1987, ^[13] Niren Chowdhury of ICS in 1982 ^[14] and Madhu Sudan Roy of Congress in 1977. ^{[5] [15]}
