• Absence of Malice (1981) Set and shot in Miami and Coral Gables, including inside the since-demolished Miami Herald building on Biscayne Bay
• Absolute Zero (2006) set in Miami
• Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) a 1994 American comedy film starring Jim Carrey as Ace Ventura, an animal detective who is tasked with finding the abducted dolphin who is the mascot of the US football team Miami Dolphins.

• The Bad Boys series , is a series of action comedy films created by George Gallo. It stars Martin Lawrence and Will Smith as two detectives in the Miami Police Department, Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey.

• Baywatch (2017) set and shot in South Beach
• The Birdcage (1998) set in Miami. The main character, Armand Goldman, is the openly gay owner of a drag club in South Beach called The Birdcage
• Caddyshack (1980) Boating scene filmed in Biscayne Bay; balance of filming done in various area of the Miami Metropolitan Area
• Cocaine Cowboys (2006) a documentary film directed by Billy Corben, and produced by Alfred Spellman and Billy Corben through their Miami-based media studio Rakontur. The film explores the rise of cocaine and the Miami Drug War (the resulting crime epidemic that swept the American city of Miami, in the 1970s and 1980s). The producers of Cocaine Cowboys use interviews with law enforcers, journalists, lawyers, former drug smugglers, and gang members to provide a first-hand perspective of the Miami drug war.
• Dostana (2008) The first Bollywood movie to be filmed entirely in Miami, United States ^[1]
• Marley & Me (2008) The film was shot on location in Miami, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Dolphin Stadium
• Miami Vice it is an adaptation of the 1980s television series of the same name
• Moonlight (2016 film) set and shot in the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami. At the 74th Golden Globe Awards Moonlight won Best Motion Picture – Drama and was nominated in five other categories. The film won the Academy Award for Best Picture, along with Best Supporting Actor for Ali and Best Adapted Screenplay for Jenkins and McCraney, from a total of eight nominations.
• Reno 911!: Miami (2007) Set and shot in Miami
• Scarface (1983) the cult classic tells the story of Cuban refugee Tony Montana (Al Pacino) who arrives in 1980s Miami with nothing and rises to become a powerful drug kingpin.
• Step Up Revolution (2012) Set and shot in Miami
• There's Something About Mary (1998) Set and shot in Miami. The film was placed 27th in the American Film Institute's 100 Years, 100 Laughs: America's Funniest Movies , a list of the 100 funniest movies of the 20th century. In 2000, readers of Total Film magazine voted it the fourth-greatest comedy film of all time.
• Transporter 2 (2005) Set in Miami
• The Wild Things series is a series of Erotic Thriller films created by Stephen Peters. The films are set and shot in the Miami area.

• The 1998 Will Smith song Miami is about the city of Miami. The music video was shot and filmed in Miami.
• Miami native and rapper Pitbull has paid homage to Miami in many of his songs over the years.
• Miami-influenced, Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, hit the popular music scene with their Cuban-oriented sound and had hits in the 1980s with "Conga" and "Bad Boys". ^[2]
• Miami Bass, Miami Bass spawned artists like 2 Live Crew (featuring Uncle Luke), 95 South, ^[3] Tag Team, ^[4] 69 Boyz, ^[5] Quad City DJ's, and Freak Nasty. Examples of these songs are "Whoomp! (There It Is)" by Tag Team in 1993, "Tootsee Roll" by 69 Boyz in 1994, and "C'mon N' Ride It (The Train)" by the Quad City DJ's in 1996.

• Dexter (TV Series) Showtime series based entirely in Miami
• Charlie's Angels the 2011 reboot is set in Miami instead of the West Coast.
• Flipper was filmed in Miami at Greenwich Studios (at the time called Ivan Tors Studios) at 12100 Ivan Tors Boulevard in Miami and at Key Biscayne, Florida. The show was produced in cooperation with the Miami Seaquarium, an aquarium also located on Key Biscayne in Miami.
• The critically acclaimed American sitcom The Golden Girls revolves around four older single women (three widows and one divorcée) sharing a house in Miami, Florida.
• Jersey Shore (TV series) (Season 2) was set and shot in Miami which aired in 2010.
• Miami Vice is an American television crime drama series created by Anthony Yerkovich and executive produced by Michael Mann for NBC. The series starred Don Johnson as James "Sonny" Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs, two Metro-Dade Police Department detectives working undercover in Miami. The series ran for five seasons on NBC from 1984 to 1989.
• Nip/Tuck focuses on a cutting-edge, controversial plastic surgery center and follows the personal and professional lives of its founders Dr. Sean McNamara and Dr. Christian Troy (portrayed by Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon respectively). Seasons 1-4 are based in Miami.

In video games

• Miami or Vice City is one of the three main levels of the first game of the video game franchise, Grand Theft Auto.
• Grand Theft Auto: Vice City the game is loosely based on Scarface and is entirely set in 1986 Miami
• Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is the prequel to GTA: Vice City and takes place in a 1984 Miami.
• Driver (video game) and Driver 3 feature various parts of the city.
• The cult video game Hotline Miami is entirely based in 1989 Miami.
• Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is both a prequel and sequel to the orginal game.
• Scarface: The World Is Yours based on the 1983 film is entirely set in Miami.
• Street Racing Syndicate features a level in Miami.
