Miss International 1985, the 25th Miss International pageant, was held on 15 September 1985 at Tsukuba's Expo Plaza. The pageant was hosted by Masumi Okada. this was the first time that Venezuela won the title of Miss International.

Miss Universe 1982 was the 31st Miss Universe pageant, held on 26 July 1982 at the Coliseo Amauta in Lima, Peru. it was the first time in the pageant's history that the event was held in South America. Seventy-seven contestants competed in the pageant. Karen Dianne Baldwin of Canada was crowned by Irene Saez of Venezuela. This is the first time Canada won the pageant.

Miss World 1999, the 49th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 4 December 1999 at the Olympia Hall in London, United Kingdom. The pageant was hosted by Ulrika Jonsson and model Melanie Sykes. The 1999 pageant attracted 94 delegates from all over the world. The 1999 pageant also marked the first time that Scotland and Wales fielded their respective delegates. At the end of the event, 20-year-old Miss India Yukta Mookhey went on to win the Miss World 1999 crown. The preliminary swimsuit competition was held in Malta. She was crowned by her predecessor Linor Abargil of Israel. Protesters gathered outside the event, decrying it as a "sexist cattle market".

She was crowned by outgoing titleholder Sandra Wolsfeld of Illinois. Smith went on to represent the United States at the Miss World 1971 Pageant in London later that year. She finished as fifth runner-up at Miss World. She later won Miss American Beauty 1974 and competed in and later won Miss International 1974.

Miss Grand Venezuela is a Venezuelan female beauty pageant that has been held for the first time in 2022 to select the country's representatives to compete in its parent stage Miss Grand International, in which Venezuela acquired the main title once in 2019, won by a 19-year-old model from Anzoátegui, Valentina Figuera. Twenty-two national delegates, chosen through various state pageants, participated in the contest, of which, Valentina Martínez of Anzoátegui was named the winner and was crowned by Vanessa Coello Miss Grand Venezuela 2021, she will later represent the country at Miss Grand International 2023, which was scheduled to be held in October 2023 in Vietnam.
