The Mulan River or Creek is a river in Fujian, China, which drains into Xinghua Bay on the Taiwan Strait between the East and South China Seas. It is the largest river in Central Fujian. [1]
Mulan is a fictional folk heroine from the Northern and Southern dynasties era of Chinese history. According to the legend, Mulan takes her aged father's place in the conscription for the army by disguising herself as a man. After prolonged and distinguished military service against nomadic hordes beyond the northern frontier, Mulan is honored by the emperor but declines a position of high office. She retires to her hometown, where she is reunited with her family and reveals her sex, much to the astonishment of her comrades.
The Taiwan Strait, also known as the Formosa Strait, is a 180-kilometer (110 mi)-wide strait separating the island of Taiwan and continental Asia. The strait is currently part of the South China Sea and connects to the East China Sea to the north. The narrowest part is 130 km (81 mi) wide.

Administratively, it is surrounded by Putian's Xiuyu, Licheng, and Hanjiang Districts to the south and west and by Fuzhou's city of Fuqing and the islands of its Pingtan County to the north and northeast.
