North Buton Regency (Kabupaten Buton Utara) is a regency of Indonesia's Southeast Sulawesi Province, which was separated from Buton Regency in accordance with Indonesia's Law Number 14 of 2007. The area of the regency, which covers the north part of Buton Island, is 1,923.03 km2. Its population was 54,736 at the 2010 Census [2] and 66,653 at the 2020 Census; [3] the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 72,757. [1] The administrative capital of the regency is at the town of Buranga, in Bonegunu District. [4]
North Buton Regency is divided into six districts (kecamatan), tabulated below with their areas and their populations at the 2010 Census [2] and the 2020 Census, [3] together with the official estimates as at mid 2023. Five other administrative districts (kecamatan) which lie geographically on the west coast of North Buton - Pasir Putih, Pasi Kolaga, Wakorumba Selatan (South Wakorumba), Batukara and Maligano - with a combined area of 400.78 km2 and a population of 25,211 in mid 2023 (22,534 at the 2020 Census), are administratively part of Muna Regency.
Buranga, the regency seat has a tropical savanna climate (Aw) with moderate to little rainfall from July to November and heavy rainfall from December to June.

Bulungan Regency is a regency of North Kalimantan Province in Indonesia. It covers an area of 13,181.92 km2 and had a population of 112,663 at the 2010 Census and 151,844 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 157,593. The administrative centre is at Tanjung Selor.
Situbondo Regency is a regency (kabupaten) in the east of East Java province, Indonesia. It covers an area of 1,658.03 km2, and had a population of 647,619 at the 2010 Census and 685,967 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 684,343. It is located towards the eastern end of Java, before Banyuwangi. The administrative centre is Situbondo, a small town within the regency. One of the famous tourist sites is Baluran National Park.
East Flores Regency is a regency in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. Established in 1958, the regency has its seat (capital) in Larantuka on Flores Island. It covers a land area of 1,812.58 km2, and it had a population of 232,605 as of the 2010 census and 276,896 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 288,310 - comprising 141,738 males and 146,572 females. The regency encompasses the eastern tip of the island of Flores, together with all of the adjacent islands of Adonara and Solor to the east of Flores, with some much smaller offshore islands. On 4 October 1999, the island of Lembata at the eastern end of the Solor Archipelago was separated from the East Flores Regency to create its own Regency.
Sitaro Islands Regency is a regency located off the northern extremity of Sulawesi Island in the southern Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The regency was formed under Law Number 15 Year 2007 from 2 January 2007, by separation from the Sangihe Islands Regency of which it had previously formed the southern part. The short form of the name is formed from those of the three principal islands — Siau, Tagulandang and Biaro.

The regency had a population of 241,428 at the 2010 Census, but was subsequently reduced by the separation of the offshore island districts as the new Konawe Islands Regency in 2013. It now covers 5,781.08 km2 and had a population of 257,011 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 266,299 - comprising 137,636 males and 128,663 females. Prior to its division in 2003, 2007 and 2013, Konawe was known as the rice granary of the province of Southeast Sulawesi because half of the province's rice production comes from Konawe.
Pasangkayu Regency is one of the six regencies which comprise West Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, on the island of Sulawesi. It covers an area of 3,043.75 km2 and had a population of 134,303 at the 2010 Census and 188,861 at the 2020 Census. The official estimate as at mid 2022 was 198,608. The town of Pasangkayu is the capital and chief town of the regency.
The Pangkajene and Islands Regency, is a regency of South Sulawesi province of Indonesia. The regency lies primarily on the mainland of Sulawesi's southern peninsula, but also includes the Spermonde Islands off the west coast of that peninsula, as well as other small islands further west and southwest. The principal town lies at Pangkajene on Sulawesi, but there are a series of further small towns like Lejang, Labakkang, Bonto-Bonto and Segeri proceeding northwards from Pangkajene along the Trans-Sulawesi Highway. The total land area is 1,112.29 km2, and the population was 305,737 at the 2010 Census and 345,775 at the 2020 Census; the official population estimate as of mid-2022 was 351,426.
Bombana Regency is a regency of Southeast Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It consists of part of the southeast peninsula of Sulawesi, together with most of the substantial offshore island of Kabaena to the south. It covers an area of 3,316.16 km2, and had a population on 139,235 at the 2010 Census and 150,706 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 153,304 - comprising 77,396 males and 75,906 females. The administrative centre lies at the town of Rumbia.
Buton Regency is a regency of Indonesia's Southeast Sulawesi Province, lying entirely on Buton Island. Until 2014 it had an area of 2,681.22 km2, and a population estimated at 276,944. However, in 2014 it was divided into three regencies, with two new regencies being cut out of it; the residual area now is 1,647.87 km2, and the districts in that area contained a population of 94,388 at the 2010 Census while the 2020 Census produced a total of 115,207; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 120,873 The capital is nominally at Pasarwajo, but the regency's administration is actually undertaken in the city of Baubau on the south-west of the island, although that city is administratively separate from the Regency.
Muna Regency is a regency of Southeast Sulawesi Province of Indonesia, covering parts of the island of Muna as well as part of the neighbouring Buton Island and smaller islands off its coast. Until 2014 it had an area of 2,945.05 km2, but in that year the western eleven districts of that Regency were split off to form a new West Muna Regency. The reduced regency now covers an area of 2,057.69 km2, and the districts comprising that area had a population of 196,645 at the 2010 Census; the total at the 2020 Census was 215,527, and the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 228,639, comprising 112,624 males and 116,015 females. The principal town lies at Raha, in Katobu District.
North Kolaka Regency is a regency in the northwest part of Southeast Sulawesi province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 2,924.46 km2, and had a population of 121,476 at the 2010 Census, and 137,700 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 141,151 - comprising 72,089 males and 69,062 females. The principal town lies at Lasusua.
South Konawe Regency is a regency of Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. It covers an area of 4,237.74 km2 and had a population of 264,587 at the 2010 Census and of 308,524 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 317,826 - comprising 162,949 males and 154,877 females. The administrative centre is in the town of Andoolo.
North Bolaang Mongondow Regency is a regency of North Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It was created on 2 January 2007 by splitting off districts which were previously part of Bolaang Mongondow Regency. The regency covers an area of 1,672.61 km2 and had a population of 70,693 at the 2010 Census and 83,112 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 84,543. Bitauna is the only official town (kelurahan) in the regency, but the administrative centre is at Boroko.
North Minahasa Regency is a regency in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Its capital is Airmadidi. It was originally part of the Minahasa Regency until it was split off and established as a separate regency on 20 November 2003. It covers an area of 1,059.24 km2, and had a population of 188,904 at the 2010 Census; this had risen to 224,993 at the 2020 Census, and the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 229,368. The Regency includes the offshore islands of Bangka and Talisei to the north of Sulawesi, and Mantenang and Naeng Besar to the northwest.
South Minahasa Regency is a regency in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Its capital is the town of Amurang. It was originally part of the Minahasa Regency until it was established as a separate regency on 25 February 2003. In turn, a Southeast Minahasa Regency was established as a separate regency from part of the South Minahasa Regency on 2 January 2007. The residual Regency now covers an area of 1,456.46 km2, and had a population of 195,553 at the 2010 Census; this had risen to 236,463 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 241,680.
Southeast Minahasa Regency is a regency in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. It covers an area of 710.83 km2, and had a population of 100,443 at the 2010 Census; this had risen to 116,323 at the 2020 Census, and the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 118,023. It was established as a separate regency from part of the South Minahasa Regency on 2 January 2007. Its administrative centre is at the town of Ratahan; Ratahan is also a language spoken in the Regency.
North Morowali Regency is a regency in the province of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The regency was established on 12 April 2013, partitioned from the northwestern districts of Morowali Regency. It covers an area of 10,004.28 km2 and the component districts them in Morowali Regency had a combined population of 104,094 at the 2010 Census. The new regency had 120,789 inhabitants at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 124,006. The principal town lies at Kolonodale.
Central Buton Regency is a new regency of Southeast Sulawesi established by separation from Buton Regency under Act No.15 of 2014, dated 23 July 2014. It covers an area of 837.16 km2 comprising the southern parts of Muna Island and Kabaena Island, together with several small offshore islands adjacent to these two main islands, but with no territory located on Buton Island. It had a population of 86,112 at the 2010 Census and 114,773 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 121,369. The administrative centre lies at Labungkari in Lakudo District.
South Buton Regency is a regency located on Buton Island in Southeast Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. This regency was formed from the southern part of Buton Regency, from which it was separated by Act No.16 of 2014, dated 23 July 2014. It covers an area of 546.58 km2, and the population of the districts now comprising the new regency was 74,974 at the 2010 Census and 95,261 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 101,635. The regency capital is located in Batauga.
