Ny-Friesland is the land area between Wijdefjorden and Hinlopen Strait on Spitsbergen, Svalbard. [1]

The area is named after the Dutch province of Friesland. [2]

Kongsfjorden

Lomfjordhalvøya

Lomfjordhalvøya is a peninsula at the northeastern part of Ny-Friesland on Spitsbergen, Svalbard. It is 44 kilometers long, and 24 kilometers wide at its base. It is located between Lomfjorden and Hinlopen Strait. Its northern tip is Kapp Fanshawe. Former names of the peninsula include Terre Margareta and Margaretas Land. The peninsula is covered by two glaciers, Balderfonna and Torsfonna. It also includes the large nesting cliffs of Lovénberget.

Vaigattbogen is a bay at the eastern side of Spitsbergen, located between Ny-Friesland and Olav V Land, and opening into Hinlopen Strait. The glacier Hinlopenbreen debouches into Vaigattbogen.

Austfjordnes is a headland located in Austfjorden, the inner eastern branch of Wijdefjorden, in Ny-Friesland at Spitsbergen, Svalbard. A cabin available for trappers is located at Austfjordnes.

Atomfjella is a mountain range in Ny-Friesland at Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Norway. It is located between Austfjorden to the west and Planetfjella to the east, Smutsdalen and Smutsbreen to the south, and Reinsbukkdalen and Reinsbukkbreen to the north. Many of the mountains in Atomfjella have names from nuclear physics. The mountain range includes Perriertoppen, Nøytronfjellet, Elektronfjellet, Radiumfjellet, Curiefjellet, Rutherfordfjellet, Grøssfjellet, Einsteinfjellet, Bohrryggen and others.

Einsteinfjellet is a mountain in Ny-Friesland at Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Norway. It has a height of 1,547 m.a.s.l., and is located at the eastern side of Austfjorden. The mountain is named after physicist Albert Einstein. Einsteinfjellet is part of the Atomfjella mountain range.

Sorgfjorden

Sorgfjorden is a fjord at the northeastern coast of Spitsbergen, Svalbard. It cuts into Ny-Friesland, from the northern part of Hinlopen Strait. It is also called Treurenberg Bay.

Lovénberget is a mountain in Ny-Friesland at Spitsbergen, Svalbard. It is located on Lomfjordhalvøya. Lovénberget is among the largest bird cliffs of Svalbard, the steep cliffs with heights of more than 400 meters facing east towards Hinlopen Strait. It is named after Swedish zoologist Sven Ludvig Lovén.

Mosselhalvøya is a peninsula in Ny-Friesland at Spitsbergen, Svalbard. It is located between Mosselbukta and Sorgfjorden. At the northern part of the peninsular is the coastal plain of Verlegenhukflya, with its northernmost point Verlegenhuken.

Valhallfonna is an ice cap in Ny-Friesland at Spitsbergen, Svalbard. It is located west of Hinlopen Strait and northeast of Åsgardfonna. The glacier covers an area of about 1,000 km².

Alkefjellet is a cliff in Lomfjordhalvøya in Ny-Friesland at Spitsbergen, Svalbard. Alkefjellet is a bird cliff facing towards Hinlopen Strait.

Crozierpynten is a headland in Ny-Friesland at Spitsbergen, Svalbard. It is located north of Heclahamna at the eastern side of Sorgfjorden. It is named after lieutenant Crozier, member of an Arctic expedition in 1827.

Chydeniusbreen is a glacier in Ny-Friesland at Spitsbergen, Svalbard. It is named after Finnish physicist Jakob Karl Emil Chydenius. The glacier has a length of about twentyfive kilometers, and flows from the mountain group of Chydeniusfjella towards the bay of Vaigattbogen.

Chydeniusfjella is a mountain group in Ny-Friesland at Spitsbergen, Svalbard. It is named after Finnish physicist Jakob Karl Emil Chydenius. The mountain group is located between Wijdefjorden and Hinlopen Strait, and is surrounded by the glaciers of Ermakbreen, Harlandisen, Veteranen, Glasgowbreen and Kvitbreen. Among the mountains of the group is Newtontoppen.
