Kollam Indoor Stadium or Olympian Suresh Babu Multipurpose Indoor Stadium [1] is a stadium in making around the Cantonment area of Kollam. [2] The construction process is supposed to be completed by December, 2023. The indoor stadium will become a reality at a cost of Rs 39 crore on 3.6 acres of land allocated by the government at Peerangi Maidan in the center of Kollam city. [3] It will feature a gallery where two thousand people can watch the game, a men's hostel for 100 sportsmen who are training, and a swimming pool are provided. Training for sportspersons in 21 sports to conduct national and international competitions will be available here. [4] [5]

Sathish Kalathil is an Indian film and documentary director and producer in Malayalam. Prakkulam is a village in Kollam district in the south west Indian state of Kerala. This village is the part of Thrikkaruva Grama Panchayat. In the 19th century, there were beaches in prakkulam for importing and exporting goods. This village is situated 12 km from Kollam junction railway station and 11 km from Kollam K.S.R.T.C Bus Station. Kollam Bypass, which connects National Highway 544 from Kavanad to Mevaram is passing through Prakkulam.

Muthukulam Parvathy Amma (1904–1977) was a Malayalam language poet, teacher, translator, freedom fighter and social reformer from Kerala, India. Parvathy Amma, a follower of Narayana Guru, supported the Indian freedom struggle, and was inclined towards the Indian National Congress. Sudhi Das, originally from Kochi, Kerala better known by his stage name Kollam Sudhi, was an Indian comedian, actor, and impressionist who worked in Malayalam television, stage, and cinema. Samuel Aby is an Indian music composer and music director from Kerala, India. He made his debut with the 2019 film Kakshi: Amminippilla starring Asif Ali. His song "Uyyaram Payyaram" from the film Kakshi Amminippilla was written in Malayalam by Manu Manjith, and went viral across social media platforms including YouTube and Instagram, with more than 45 million views.

The Sasthamcotta boat disaster occurred on 16 January 1982 on Sasthamcotta Lake, located in the Kollam district of the southern Indian state of Kerala. The tragedy claimed the lives of 24 individuals.
