Oncopygius is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. [2] It includes three living species in Europe, mainly recorded from montane habitats in Central and Southeastern Europe. [3] Also associated with the genus are three extinct species known from fossils found in the Rott Formation of Germany, dated to the Oligocene. [4]
Argyra is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. The name "Argyra" comes from the Greek word for "silver", referring to the silver pruinescence found on the males of many of the species.
The Dryomyzidae are a small family of flies ranging from 4–18 mm long, with prominent bristles, and yellow to brown or rust-yellow coloring. The wings are very large. The subcosta is complete and well separated from vein 1. Larvae feed on decaying organic matter - carrion, dung, and fungi. The prelambrum protrudes from the oral cavity. Vibrissae are absent and the postvertical bristles are divergent.
Dolichopus is a large cosmopolitan genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. Adults are small flies, typically less than 8 mm in length. Nearly all species are metallic greenish-blue to greenish-bronze. It is the largest genus of Dolichopodidae with more than 600 species worldwide.
Anepsiomyia is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It contains only one extant species from Europe, Anepsiomyia flaviventris, as well as two fossil species from the Eocene of Russia and Belarus. The systematic position of the genus is currently uncertain: it has been variously placed in subfamilies such as Sympycninae and Peloropeodinae.
Diostracus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It includes about 100 species described from the Nearctic, Palaearctic and Oriental realms. In 2013, it was expanded to include the former genera Lagodechia and Sphyrotarsus as subgenera.
Nematoproctus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It has an uncertain position in the family; different authors have included the genus in the subfamily Diaphorinae or the subfamily Rhaphiinae.
Peodes is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae, with three known species from the Palaearctic realm.
Scellus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It is distributed in the Palearctic and Nearctic.
Systenus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae.
Tachytrechus is a genus of long-legged flies in the family Dolichopodidae.
Thinophilus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It includes about 146 described species distributed worldwide. Most species of the genus are found in coastal habitats, while a few species are found in freshwater habitats.
Xanthochlorus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It is the only member of the subfamily Xanthochlorinae. In some classifications, the genus is included in the subfamily Sympycninae.
Dolichopodinae is a subfamily of flies in the family Dolichopodidae.
Neurigoninae is a subfamily of flies in the family Dolichopodidae.
Gymnopternus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It was formerly placed as a subgenus of Hercostomus, but is now accepted as a separate genus.
Poecilobothrus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae.
Microphor is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae, subfamily Microphorinae.
Schistostoma is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae, subfamily Microphorinae.
