Orange Sport (formerly Boom Sport, Dolce Sport and Telekom Sport) was a group of Romanian sports television channels owned by Orange Romania and available exclusively to its television subscribers.

Contents

The first channel was launched on 11 November 2006 by satellite television broadcaster Boom Extrasatelit. After the company became insolvent, satellite television subscribers and sports channels were sold to Romtelecom, which rebranded the channels as Dolce Sport on 13 August 2010. [1] After rebranding of Romtelecom to Telekom, it were rebranded as Telekom Sport on 12 September 2017. [2] After Orange Romania acquired Telekom Romania in 2021, which included its fixed-line services, the sports television channels were rebranded to Orange Sport on 28 March 2022. [3]

The group of television channels owned the rights to broadcast the NBA in Romania from its launch in 2006 until its closure on 30 June 2024. [4]

Boom Extrasatelit, also known as Boom TV and operated as DTH Television Group SA, was a Romanian satellite television company and television broadcaster. Founded in 2004 by Israeli investors, the company began testing satellite television transmissions on the Amos satellite on December 21, 2005. The service was officially launched in April 2006 under the name Boom TV. It was the only television service in Romania to offer a selection of television channels in thematic packages. It also provided up to 10 own exclusive television channels, including Boom Sport channels, alongside channels for movies, children's shows and music, as well as the first pay-per-view film service.

Television in Romania started in August 1955. State television started to broadcast on 31 December 1956. The second television channel followed in 1968, but between 1985 and 1990, there was only one Romanian channel before the return of the second channel. Private broadcasters arrived in December 1991, with SOTI which was the first private nationwide television station in Central and Eastern Europe. Romania has the highest penetration rates for pay television in the world, with over 98% of all households watching television through cable or satellite.

Clubul Sportiv Municipal București, also known as CSM București, CSM or CSM Bucharest, is a professional women's handball team based in Bucharest, Romania, that competes in the Liga Naţională and the EHF Champions League. Founded in 2007, the club has traditionally worn a blue kit since inception. The team has played its home matches in the 5,300-capacity Polyvalent Hall in the Tineretului Park in southern Bucharest. CSM București established itself as a major force in both Romanian and European handball in the late 2010s, winning EHF Champions League in its debut season and reaching the Final Four three consecutive times. This success was replicated in the league, where the club won four consecutive times. The official CSM mascot is a "tiger". CSM Bucharest is one of the most widely supported handball clubs in Romania.

Prima Sport is a Romanian network of sports channels owned and operated by the media group Clever. The package includes four channels called Prima Sport 1, Prima Sport 2, Prima Sport 3, Prima Sport 4, and Prima Sport 5. It was launched in 2011, under the name Transilvania L!VE and after other names, the channels became Prima Sport on April 19, 2022.
