Orchestia is a genus of amphipods in the family Talitridae. Species in Orchestia are parasitized by the Filozoan species Txikispora philomaios . [1]
The genus contains the following species: [2]
Dexaminidae is a family of amphipods. It contains the following genera:
Calliopiidae is a family of amphipods, containing the following genera:
Pardaliscidae is a family of amphipods, whose members typically inhabit the deepest parts of ocean basins. It contains the following genera:
Lysianassidae is a family of marine amphipods, containing the following genera:
Eusiridae is a family of amphipods. It contains the following genera:
Paramoera is a genus of amphipods in the family Pontogeneiidae. It contains the following species:
Paracalliope is a genus of amphipod crustaceans that live in Australasia. They include the most common freshwater amphipods in New Zealand, where they are particularly frequent in slow-flowing reaches of rivers. They shelter among weed beds and are important prey items for fish such as the New Zealand smelt, Retropinna retropinna, which are in turn important prey for the freshwater eels Anguilla australis and Anguilla dieffenbachii. Paracalliope acts as an intermediate host for the nematode Hedruris spinigera, which can thus reach their primary host, the eel.
Leucothoe is a genus of amphipods in the family Leucothoidae. It contains the following species:
Gammaridae is a family of amphipods. In North America they are included among the folk taxonomic category of "scuds", and otherwise gammarids is usually used as a common name.
Talorchestia is a genus of amphipod of the family Talitridae, containing the following species:
Hyalella is a genus of amphipods found in the Americas. They are mainly found in freshwater habitats.
Photis is a genus of amphipod crustaceans, containing the following species:
Urothoe is a genus of very small marine amphipod crustaceans in the family Urothoidae. Members of the genus are found worldwide.
Pontogeneiidae is a family of amphipod crustaceans, containing the following genera:
Stegocephalidae is a little-studied family of amphipods belonging to the suborder Gammaridea.
Parhyale is a genus of amphipod crustaceans, containing the following species:
Maera is a genus of amphipod crustacean in the family Maeridae, and was first described by William Elford Leach in 1814. The type taxon is Cancer (Gammarus) grossimanus Montagu, 1808, currently accepted as Maera grossimana.
Maeridae is a family of marine amphipods, which was first described by Taudl Krapp-Schickel in 2008.
Txikispora is a genus of unicellular protists made up solely of the species Txikispora philomaios. It is the only genus in the family Txikisporidae, which is a member of the class Filasterea and is closely related to Ministeriidae. The lineage was first described in 2022 based on specimens identified from the United Kingdom. The species represents a previously undiscovered type of life that diverged extremely early from animals and fungi. It parasitizes amphipods in the genera Echinogammarus and Orchestia and most frequently infects their hemolymph and hemocytes.
