Penna Ahobilam Balancing Reservoir(PABR) is an irrigation project located across Penna River in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh state in India. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] Anantapur city gets its drinking water from the PABR. The reservoir with live storage capacity of 305 million cubic metres is mainly fed by Tungabhadra high level canal originating from the Tungabhadra Dam to the extent of 10 Tmcft water. [6] A 20 MW hydro electric power station is also constructed at the dam site.

After the death of eminent irrigation engineer K. Sriramakrishnaiah in the year 2002, the Penna Ahobilam balancing reservoir is renamed in memory of him as "Dr. K. Sriramakrishnaiah Penna Ahobilam balancing reservoir" by the Andhra Pradesh government. [ citation needed ]

Penna River

"Rajaolibanda Diversion Scheme" or "RDS" is an irrigation project located across River Tungabhadra in Jogulamba Gadwal district of Telangana, Kurnool district of Andhra pradesh and Raichur district of Karnataka. It is an inter-state barrage on the Tungabhadra river to supply water to Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states. The full reservoir level of this project is 332.32 m MSL.

Kandula Obula Reddy Gundlakamma Reservoir Project is an irrigation project across the Gundlakamma River located in Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, India. The dam, with 56 million cubic meters of live storage capacity, is located across the Gundlakamma River. It now supplies 100 acres out of the total envisaged area of 80,000. This reservoir also supplies drinking water to the nearby Ongole city.

The Tungabhadra Dam also known as Pampa Sagar is constructed across the Tungabhadra River, a tributary of the Krishna River. The dam is in Hosapete, Vijayanagara district of Karnataka. It is a multipurpose dam serving irrigation, electricity generation, flood control, etc. This is a joint project of erstwhile Hyderabad state and erstwhile Madras Presidency when the construction was started; later it became a joint project of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh after its completion in 1953. The main architect of the dam was Vepa Krishnamurthy, ISE, Engineer-in-Chief, Hyderabad State, after Police Action, an engineer from Madras PWD. There is a dispute between Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka for the water of Tungabhadra reservoir. He argued for the stability and longevity of the Dam, built of Surki Mortar viz a combination of mud and limestone. It's the only non-cement and concrete dam in the country and has withstood the test of time for over 70 years, and may well cross many more decades. He envisioned it as being built with a large contingent of manual labour, as best suited to Indian labour availability and employment. The main contractor for the dam was Venkat Reddy Mulamalla, from Konour village, Mahabubnagar, Hyderabad state.

Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project is the longest water canal project in the region of Rayalaseema, Andhra Pradesh, India. The project was conceived to provide a reliable irrigation and drinking water supply for the region through drawing flood waters from the Srisailam reservoir.

Kandeleru Dam is an irrigation project built on the Kandaleru River in Rapur Mandal, Nellore district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The project is part of the Telugu Ganga project that supplies drinking water to Chennai city from the Srisailam reservoir on Krishna River. Kandaleru reservoir is mainly fed by a link canal from Somasila Dam. The Telugu Ganga project provides irrigation.

Mylavaram Dam

Mylavaram Dam is a medium irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh, India. This barrage is located across the Penna river in Kadapa district near Mylavaram. With the completion of srisailam right bank canal, Krishna River water would be fed from Srisailam reservoir to this reservoir. The reservoir has a gross storage capacity of 9.96 tmcft.

Pothireddypadu Reservoir

Velugodu Reservoir is a balancing reservoir and located across the Galeru river, a tributary of Kundu River in Penner River basin, at Velugodu town in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. This reservoir is part of Telugu Ganga project and mainly fed by gravity canal from back waters of Srisailam Dam through Pothireddypadu head / flow regulator located across the feeder canal. Velugodu Reservoir has gross storage capacity of 16.95Tmcft at 265 m MSL full reservoir level.

K. C. Canal

Kurnool Cuddappah Canal popularly known as K.C. Canal is an irrigation canal located in Kurnool and Cuddapah districts in Andhra Pradesh, India.

MPR Dam is an irrigation project located across Penna river in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It works mainly as a balancing reservoir under the Tungabhadra high level irrigation canal which originats from the Tungabhadra Dam. It is situated at Bhadrampalle and Vajrakarur villages.

Jeedipalli Reservoir

Jeedipalli Reservoir is an irrigation project located in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh, India. It receives water from Handri-Neeva canal which draws water from Srisailam reservoir. It is located in Jeedipalli village of Beluguppa mandal.

Kuditipudi Sriramakrishnaiah was an irrigation engineer who was actively associated in most of the irrigation projects of Andhra Pradesh for 34 years before retirement from the state government service in the year 1983.

Nagarjuna Sagar tail pond

Nagarjuna Sagar tail pond is a multipurpose reservoir located 21 km downstream from the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam across the Krishna River near Satrasala in Nalgonda district, India. Its gross water storage capacity is 6 Tmcft. The reservoir water spread area extends up to the toe of the Nagarjuna Sagar dam. The project was completed by July 2014.

Lower Manair Dam also known as LMD was constructed across the Manair River, at Alugunur village, Thimmapur mandal, Karimnagar District, in the Indian state of Telangana during 1974 to 1985. It provides irrigation to a gross command area of 163,000 hectares.

Bugga Ramalingeswara temple

Bugga Ramalingeswara Swamy temple is a Siva shrine situated on the southern bank of the Penna river in Tadipatri, Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It was built between 1490 and 1509 by Pemmasani Ramalinga Nayudu I, a Pemmasani Nayaka chieftain of the Gutti-Gandikota region during the reign of the Vijayanagara Empire.

Gollapalli Reservoir is an irrigation project located in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It receives water from Handri-Neeva canal which draws water from Srisailam reservoir. It is located at Gollapalli village in Penukonda Constituency.
