The Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations is the official representative of the government of Austria to the United Nations.
The Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations in New York (UNONY) is located in the skyscraper at 600 Third Avenue in Manhattan. [1] In addition to the General Assembly, the UN Secretariat, the Economic and Social Council and the Trusteeship Council, UNICEF, UNDP and UNFPA are also located there.
The Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations in Geneva (UNOG) and the Specialized Agencies at Geneva is located at 35–37 Avenue-Giuseppe-Motta in Geneva. [2] The representation includes UNHRC, UNCTAD, UNCD, UNDRO, UNITAR, WHO, ILO, ITU, WIPO, WMO and the UN treaty bodies. It also includes the WTO Division for the World Tourism Organization, whose headquarters is the Permanent Mission in Madrid.
The Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations in Vienna (UNOV) is located in the Andromeda Tower in Vienna's 22nd District Donaustadt. [4] It also includes the Permanent Mission to the IAEA, UNIDO and CTBTO. The Vienna offices of UNOV, UNODC, UNCITRAL, UNOOSA, SEforALL are also entrusted with this task. [5]

Diplomatic relations between Austria and Bulgaria were established in 1879. Austria has an embassy in Sofia and an honorary consulate in Burgas while Bulgaria has an embassy in Vienna and an honorary consulate in Salzburg.

The Habsburgs, who ruled Austria for more than six centuries, are originally from Aargau, Switzerland. The two countries are predominantly German-speaking. Together, both countries organized the Euro 2008.

The two countries became members of the EU in 1995.
The Embassy of Austria in Washington, D.C., is the primary diplomatic mission of the Republic of Austria to the United States and represent the interests of Austria and Austrian citizens in the U.S. It is located at 3524 International Court, NW, Washington, D.C., in a neighborhood primarily occupied by diplomatic missions. Its immediate neighbors are the Embassy of Slovakia, the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, and the Embassy of Egypt. The chancery building houses and operates several services and offices relevant to the pursuit of its mission in the United States.
Foreign relations exist between Austria and the United Kingdom, and have been positive and friendly since Austrian independence in 1955. Both nations are members of the Council of Europe. The two nations share close economic and technological ties, and cooperate in a variety of fields, particularly when the UK was a member of the European Union and also more recently in condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. They have also agreed to cooperate on mutual interests over matters involving security in the Balkans, including regarding Kosovo, Albania and Serbia and furthermore to work together on countering subversive Russian activity in the region.
The 1955 Austrian State Treaty ended the four-power occupation and recognized Austria as an independent and sovereign state. In October 1955, the Federal Assembly passed a constitutional law in which "Austria declares of her own free will her perpetual neutrality." The second section of this law stated that "in all future times Austria will not join any military alliances and will not permit the establishment of any foreign military bases on her territory." Since then, Austria has shaped its foreign policy on the basis of neutrality.
