Plou is a municipality located in the Province of Teruel, Aragon, Spain. According to the 2004 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 49 inhabitants.

The extinct plant genus Ploufolia was discovered in and named after the municipality. [2]

Plou is also a common surname in the small community. [3]

As of 2021, the town had 50 registered residents but only 24 year-round residents, including two school age children who travel to Montalbán for school. The town declined in the 1960s with the closing a mining railway from Utrillas to Zaragoza, and more emigration to larger cities, mainly Zaragoza and Barcelona. [4]

The 2023 Aragonese regional election will be held no later than Sunday, 25 June 2023, to elect the 11th Cortes of the autonomous community of Aragon. All 67 seats in the Cortes will be up for election. Ploufolia is an extinct genus of plants in the order Nymphaeales. It existed in northeastern Spain during the Upper Albian period. One specimen of a species named Ploufolia cerciforme was discovered in 2010 at the Utrillas Formation, near Plou, Teruel Province; the genus name is derived from the locality of Plou.
