Plymouth is a town in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. The population was 3,115 at the time of the 2000 census. It is included in the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The City of Plymouth is located within the town, but is politically independent. The unincorporated community of New Paris is also located in the town.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 31.5 square miles (81.6 km2), of which, 31.5 square miles (81.5 km2) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km2) of it (0.10%) is water.
As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 3,115 people, 1,092 households, and 885 families residing in the town. The population density was 99.0 people per square mile (38.2/km2). There were 1,178 housing units at an average density of 37.4 per square mile (14.5/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.07% White, 0.42% Black or African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.19% from other races, and 0.83% from two or more races. 0.87% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 1,092 households, out of which 35.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.3% were married couples living together, 3.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.9% were non-families. 16.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 25.3% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 29.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who were 65 years of age or older.
