RV University is a Karnataka state recognized university [7] [8] for liberal education based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.It was established by the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST), which has over eight decades in higher education.

RV University is a state-private university established in Bangalore under the RV University Act 2019 [9] is approved by Government of Karnataka,India. [10] RV University has received all regulatory approvals by the University Grants Commission (UGC), India. [11] [12] [13]

History

RV University, which commenced operations in 2021, is governed by the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) [14] which is a charitable trust managing RV Educational Institutions in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Today, Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) has over 21 institutions across Bangalore constituting more than 20,000 students every year under its umbrella. [15] RV University is an initiative of the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) which also manages the engineering institution RV College of Engineering in Bangalore.

RV University (RVU) offers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes in different academic disciplines namely, [16] [17] [18]

Admission

RVU admits students based on RVSAT (RV Scholastic Admission Test is the national-level entrance exam) and RVU Selection Process for all UG, PG and PhD Programmes [20] of RV University. RVU admits 40% of undergraduate engineering students based on their Karnataka CET ranks. Also RVU admits students under a management quota.

Scholarships

The RV university has allocated Rs 10 crore for merit scholarships for the ensuing academic year starting in August 2023. This will benefit 500 students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. [32] [33]

Campus

RV University's campus provides various facilities and amenities for its students [34] . The campus is spread across 50 acres. There is also a nearby metro station called Pattanagere metro station,Bangalore. The campus has a fully automated bank, post office, and health centre [35] .

University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) was established in 1917, under the name Government Engineering College, by Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. It is the 5th engineering college to be established in the country and 1st in Karnataka. UVCE is one of the few technical institutions in the country that is vested with the status of a university and autonomy on the lines of IITs. It is one of the oldest technical institutions in the country, imparting technical education leading to B.Tech., B. Arch., M.Tech., M. Arch. and PhD degrees in the various disciplines of Engineering and Architecture. The college is approved by the AICTE and the Government of Karnataka. UVCE has secured an NAAC accreditation score of 3.75. UVCE, while a constituent college of Bangalore University until 2022, secured an NIRF ranking of 64. The college used to receive financial aid under the TEQIP program from the World Bank.
