Rohit Jangid is an Indian Wushu player. [4] He has won medals in state championships and national-level competitions, [5] and has won four bronze medals international championships. [6] [7]

Early life and education

Rohit Jangid was born in Rajasthan into a middle-class family. [8] His father Rajesh Jangid is a furniture dealer, and his mother Sunita Jangid is a housewife. He has a brother and a sister. [9] [10] His younger brother Rahul Jangid is also a Wushu competitor and a junior national medallist. [11]

Since the ninth standard he was interested in Wushu sports. [12]

His village is approximately 10 kilometers away from Jaipur. [13]

Career

He has been training under Rajesh Tailor [14] for 8 years in Wushu and he began playing Wushu at the age of 17. His first Wushu match was held in Bhopal at the state level. Rohit won Silver medal in 65kg category, Shillong (Meghalaya) 1st Sanshou Cup Wushu Championship - October 1st to 4th, 2013 [15]


"Dream Cup" the 12th Hong Kong Wushu International Championship, was held at Ma On Shan Stadium from March 18th to 20th, 2014. [16] Hong Kong Wushu International Festival Committee hosted the tournament. It attracted 50,000 athletes from 50 nations in total. Rohit Jangid earned a bronze medal in the 65-kilogram category. Rohit also won another bronze medal in the 65-kilogram category at the 9th Georgia International Wushu Championship held at Tbilisi from 24-27 June 2016. [3] [20] he won silver at the South Asian Wushu Championship in Nepal in 2021. [21] [22] [23] [24]

He was selected by Rajasthan Police in 2018 through sports quota. [25] [26] [27]

Rohit received the Rising Star Award from the former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in 2017 [28] and the Veer Teja Award from by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. [29]
