The Sakay River is a waterway in Bongolava, Madagascar, and passes through the towns of Ankadinondry Sakay and Mahasolo.

Its mouth is in the Mahajilo River.

Macario Sakay Filipino general, merchant and revolutionary

Macario Sakay y de León was a Filipino general who took part in the 1896 Philippine Revolution against the Spanish Empire and in the Philippine–American War. After the war was declared over by the United States in 1902, Sakay continued resistance by leading guerrilla raids. The following year he became President of the Tagalog Republic.

Sakay is a 1993 Filipino historical drama film directed by Raymond Red. The film stars Julio Diaz, Tetchie Agbayani, and Leopoldo Salcedo. It was produced by Alpha Omega Productions. The film portrays the latter part of the life of Filipino patriot and hero Macario Sakay, who was declared an outlaw and a criminal for continuing hostilities against the United States after the "official" end of the Philippine–American War.

Francisco Carreón

Francisco Carreón y Marcos was a Filipino general in the Philippine Revolution against Spain and in the Philippine–American War. As the vice president of Macario Sakay's Tagalog Republic (Tagalog: Republika ng Katagalugan), he continued resistance against the United States up until the dissolution of the republic in 1906. He was captured on July 14, 1906 and was imprisoned in the old Bilibid Prison; he was later released in 1930 through a pardon.

Datu Magat Salamat was a Filipino historical figure best known for co-organizing the Tondo Conspiracy of 1587. Raphaël Babet was a French politician.

Dominador Gómez was a Filipino ilustrado nationalist, physician, and a labor leader. He was born in Intramuros, Manila in 1868. He was a nephew of Padre Mariano Gomez, one of the three secular priests who were executed in 1872 after being falsely accused of orchestrating the Cavite mutiny. In 1881 he obtained his bachelor's degree from Ateneo Municipal. He then took medicine in the University of Santo Tomas, but left for Spain in 1887 to continue his studies. In Spain he got his license to practice medicine from the University of Barcelona in 1889 and then went to Madrid to get his doctorate. During this time, he was an active member of the propaganda movement. He was a leading member of the Asociacion Hispano-Filipina and a contributor to La Solidaridad. He used the pen name Ramiro Franco.
