Saki West is a Local Government Area in Oyo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Saki. Shaki, Nigeria is located at the extreme end of Oyo state. It has a ressetlement center of 2nd Mechanised division of Nigerian Army, The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic (TOPS), Technical College and a School of Command. Shaki, Nigeria is also one of the largest city in Oyo state.

It has an area of 2,014 km2 and a population of 278,002 at the 2006 census.

The location has inevitably placed the park at a vantage position of abundance land area as well as diverse wildlife and cultural/historical settings. Eleven local government areas out of which ten fall within Oyo State and one in Kwara State surround it. The Administrative Head Office is located in Oyo, Isokun area along Oyo-Iseyin road, where necessary information and booking could be made. The landscaping and organized space within the large yard has made the facility very endearing to the public. It is rich in plant and animal resources including buffaloes, bushbuck and a variety of birds. The park is easily accessible from southwestern and northwestern Nigeria. The nearest cities and towns adjoining Old Oyo National Park include Saki, Iseyin, Igboho, Sepeteri, Tede, Kishi and Igbeti which have their own commercial and cultural attractions for tourism.

Sepeteri is the biggest town in the Saki East Local Government Area of Oke-Ogun Oyo State, Nigeria. The Yoruba people of Sepeteri are related with fon of dahomey and Ifon in Osun State their crownship is Obatala, Obalufon lineage under Oyo Empire. Sepeteri is located between Igboho, Ago-amodu and Oje Owode to Shaki, Ago-Are and Iseyin.

Igbeti-Okeogun is a town located in the northern part of Oyo State, Nigeria. The town's population was approximately 81,000 at the 2006 census. Igbeti is also known as "Marble City" for its rich marble deposits. It is situated in Olorunsogo Local Government area which is one of the thirty three local governments in Oyo state. It has Ilorin, the Kwara state capital to her East, Ikoyi Ile to the South, Igboho and Saki to her West, while the old Oyo National Park lies to the North. Iya Mopo and Agbele Rock are the two most visited of the 16 hills surrounding the town. Iya Mopo Hill, the highest hill in Igbeti, which occupies over six kilometers of land mass and is as high as one hundred and fifty feet, was once used as shelter against attacks. Agbele Rock is a naturally formed statue said to depict a mother with load on her head carrying her child and also Bata Erugba named because of it Drum like structure. The Òǹkò, otherwise known as Òkè Ògùn people are a Yoruba people group inhabiting the areas drained by the upper Ogun river in Northwestern Oyo state in Nigeria. They were historically a part of the once expansive Oyo empire, but are distinct from the Oyo proper.

The 2023 Oyo State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Oyo State, concurrent with elections to the Oyo State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Seyi Makinde was re-elected, winning by a % margin of victory over first runner-up and APC nominee—Senator Teslim Folarin.
