Ogbomoso South local government government area is domiciled in Oyo state, South-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Its headquarters are located in Arowomole area of Ogbomoso.

History

Ogbomoso South Local Government Area was established in 1991, carved out from the former Ogbomoso Local Council. [1] The Yoruba language is the dominant language in the Area, and the residents widely adhere to the religions of Christianity and Islam among the population. [1]

History

Ogbomoso South Local Government was formed in 1991 from the previous Ogbomoso Local Government by the Military Administration. Neighbourhoods in the Council include Idi- igba, Gaa- Lagbedu, Kajola, Kowe, Oke- Ola, Adeoye, Onidewure, Molete, Arowomole, Sanuaje, Obandi, Ijeru, Ayegun, and Oke Alapata. [4]

The Rev. Dr. Solomon Adeniyi Babalola was a Nigerian Baptist pastor who lived and served in Nigeria, Ghana, Canada, and the United States. Born in Oke-Ila Orangun, Nigeria, he graduated from his initial pastoral training in December 1949 from the three-year theology course of the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomosho. He is reputed to be one of the two youngest Nigerian nationals ever recruited into the ministry by American missionaries, during a late-1940s drive led by Seminary President Dr. J.C. Pool, assisted by indigenous pastors. Babalola was consecrated as a Baptist trained pastor at the age of 20.

Ogbomosho High School is a Government Secondary School in Ogbomosho, in the Oyo state of Nigeria. It was established on 1 April 1952. Ogbomosho High School holds a prominent position among the public schools in Ogbomosho. The school consists of junior and senior classes. Edmund Godwin Oluwemimo Gesinde was the first principal of the school.
