Tan Sri Samsuri bin Arshad (born 5 May 1942) is a former Deputy Inspector General of Police of Malaysia.

Shamsuri Arshad was born on 5 May 1942 in Mersing,Johor. He was educated at Sri Mersing National Secondary School,Johor,English College,Johor Bahru,Johor and a law degree from the University of London,United Kingdom (LLB).
He joined the Royal Federation of Malaya Police on 1 November 1962 as Probationary Inspector. After completion of 10-month training,he was posted as an investigation officer in the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters with the rank of Inspector on 29 November 1963. On 1 February 1966,he was posted to 6th Platoon of Police Field Force which based in Cheras. On 9 March 1969,Samsuri was awarded a police baton by IGP Tan Sri Mohamed Salleh Ismael for being best Cadet ASP during Kuala Kubu Bharu Police College training. [1] Samsuri was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police on 22 June 1969 and served as Tapah Police Station Chief. On 27 December 1971,he served as instructor at Kuala Kubu Bharu Police College.
In 1972,he attended the course International General Interpol in Australia. On 12 December 1973,he was posted to Kelantan as Deputy Superintendent of Police. On 25 December 1975,he served as Batu Pahat Police Station Chief. On 14 June 1976,he took over as Bukit Aman Police Secretary. On 8 August 1978,he served as Deputy Head of Perak Criminal Investigation Department.
In 1979,he attended the course Administration of Criminal Justice in Japan. On 12 January 1981,he was promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police and assumed the role of Head of Perak Criminal Investigation Department. On 4 February 1982,he served as Commandant of Kuala Kubu Bharu Police College. In addition,on 11 May 1984,he was promoted to Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police II and served as deputy director (Training) of Bukit Aman Management Department. In 1987,he attended a course at National Institute of Administration (INTAN) until 1988. In 1989,he attended a course on constitution and administration at University of Malaya. On 10 September 1987,he was promoted to Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police I and assumed the post of Selangor Police Chief. On 2 February 1989,he served as deputy director of Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department. In 1990,he also attended an executive course in South Korea,he also attended a White Collar Crime course in United Kingdom.
Subsequently,on 11 January 1991,he was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police and assumed the post of Sabah Police Commissioner. In 1992,he continued to study in United Kingdom. Upon returning to Malaysia on 5 January 1993,he served as Perak Police Chief. On 17 July 1993,he served as Director of Bukit Aman Management Department,succeeding the retired Dato' Ang Phaik Chin. Lastly,on 16 January 1994,he was appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police. [2] He was mandatory retired on 5 May 1997 and was succeeded by Norian Mai.
Samsuri currently is a Member of Board of Trustees of Yayasan Pengaman Malaysia. [3] In addition,he also a Chairman of Orbit Asia Risk Consultancy. [4]
He married Puan Sri Noraini Yahya.
