Splendrillia is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Drilliidae. [1] [2]
Fossils from this old genus have been found in Eocene strata of Antarctica, Oligocene and Miocene strata of Australia, Miocene strata of Germany, Japan and New Zealand and Quaternary strata of the United States; age range: 55.8 to 0.012 Ma. [3]
Species within the genus Splendrillia include:
Marginella is a very large genus of small tropical and temperate sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the subfamily Marginellinae of the family Marginellidae, the margin snails. It is a type of genus family.
Turrid, plural turrids, is a common name for a very large group of predatory sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks which until recently were all classified in the family Turridae. However, recently the family was discovered to be polyphyletic and therefore was split into a number of families.
Crassispira is a genus of small predatory sea snails with narrow, high-spired shells, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Pseudomelatomidae. They first appeared in the fossil record approximately 48.6 million years ago during the Eocene epoch, and still exist in the present day.
Pseudomelatomidae is a family of predatory sea snails, marine gastropods included in the superfamily Conoidea and part of the Neogastropoda.
The Drilliidae are a taxonomic family of small predatory sea snails with high-spired shells. They are classified as marine gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Conoidea.
Cerodrillia is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Drilliidae.
Clathrodrillia is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Drilliidae.
Drillia is a genus of small sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Drilliidae.
Fenimorea is a genus of carnivorous sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Drilliidae.
Neodrillia is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Drilliidae.
Bathytoma is a genus of deep-water sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Borsoniidae.
Turris is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Turridae, the turrids.
Daphnella is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Raphitomidae.
Kermia is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Raphitomidae.
Pleurotomella is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Raphitomidae.
Glyphostoma is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Clathurellidae.
Mangelia is a large genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Mangeliidae.
Miltromorpha is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Mitromorphidae, in the superfamily Conoidea the cone snails and their allies. This genus was originally described by Carpenter off the west coast of the United States. The species occur mainly on the continental shelf and in insular environments. Their real diversity is poorly understood.
Inquisitor is a genus of small predatory sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Pseudomelatomidae.
Clavus is a genus of small sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Drilliidae.
