The Sungai Petani clock tower is situated in the city of Sungai Petani, Kuala Muda District, Kedah, Malaysia.
The clock tower was built to commemorate King George V's Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years on the throne, and was unveiled on 4 June 1936. [1] [2] It was donated by Lim Lean Teng, a wealthy Penang businessman, and designed by architect, Chew Eng Eam. [3]
The rectangular clock tower is 60 feet high with the clock 40 feet from the ground. Built in the art deco style, it is made of concrete with a granolithic finish to improve durability, and is covered with a golden dome. [1] A bronze memorial plaque reads: "This clock tower was presented to Sungei Patani by Mr. Lim Lean Teng to commemorate the reign of His Majesty King George V. 1910 to 1936." [1]

Sungei Road is a road in Singapore situated between Serangoon Road and Jalan Besar and runs along the Rochor Canal. The area around Sungei Road formerly housed affluent Europeans and Asians, and many ornately designed buildings were built there. The Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower is an Moorish-style Jubilee clocktower within George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Located at the intersection of Light Street and Beach Street, it was built to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. The tower is sixty feet to the centre of the clock, one foot for each year of Victoria's reign. A corner of the wall surrounding Fort Cornwallis is situated behind the tower. It was donated by Cheah Chen Eok, a local businessman, who provided $30,000 for the purpose, and was designed by Mr. Pierce, Municipal Engineer, Penang, and built by Messrs Barnett and Stark.

David A. Aitken was a state planning officer of the Ipoh Town Council in early 1961. Ipoh is the capital city of the Malaysian state of Perak. He worked under the administration of E. G. Waller. Aitken and Waller, from their positions as planners, were key figures in bringing architectural modernism to Southeast Asia. They oversaw an extremely ambitious development period in central Malaysia that saw major projects in the public and private sectors. They also helped shift the perception of public housing away from colonial schemes to relocate Chinese villages and thereby fight communism. Under their leadership, Ipoh became a hotbed of architectural modernism, and was an active part in the global effort to combat poverty and provide decent low-cost housing through multiple projects, large and small.
The Queen Victoria Memorial in George Town, Penang is a monument to Queen Victoria, begun after her death, located at the Penang Chinese Recreation Club. Penang's Victoria Memorial takes the form of a large piece of land known as "Victoria Green," and a statue at the edge of Victoria Green at the junction of Burmah Road and Pangkor Road, the establishment of each being years apart from the other. The Jubilee Clock Tower is a free-standing clock tower on the Esplanade of Weymouth, Dorset, England.
