Syntormon is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It includes about 110 species worldwide, more than 50 of which were described from the Palaearctic realm. [3]
The name Syntormon is derived from the Ancient Greek word συντορμόω (syntormóō, "I connect by inserted pins"); it refers to the second segment of the antennae which has a small thumb-shaped projection going into the inner side of the third segment, appearing as if it were a pin inserted into a socket.
