Dallas Michael John Albert Green is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter and record producer who records under the name City and Colour. He is also known for his contributions as a singer, rhythm guitarist and songwriter for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. In 2005, he debuted his first full-length album, Sometimes, which achieved platinum certification in 2006. City and Colour began performing in small intimate venues between Alexisonfire tours. The name City and Colour comes from his own name: Dallas, a city, and Green, a colour. His reasoning for the name was that he felt uneasy "putting the album out under the name Dallas Green".

All of the band members use pseudonyms and previously wore their own unique mask, most of which were based on the common hockey goaltender design. The band currently consists of five members: J-Dog, Funny Man, Johnny 3 Tears, Charlie Scene, and Danny. They released their debut album, Swan Songs, on September 2, 2008, and their live CD/DVD Desperate Measures, on November 10, 2009. Their second studio album, American Tragedy, was released April 5, 2011. Their third studio album, titled Notes from the Underground, was released on January 8, 2013.

"Kiss This" is a song by English rock band the Struts. It was released April 7, 2014, as the second single from their debut studio album Everybody Wants. The song began to climb the charts in America in 2015 and 2016 causing an increase in popularity. Lyrically, the song recalls a personal experience of lead vocalist Luke Spiller, whose girlfriend at the time had been cheating on him with one of his close friends. He was not particularly fond of the idea of the song indulging in self-pity. Instead, the band uses power riffs and an in-your-face chorus. Due to this shift in perspective, the song became a liberating anthem about standing up on your own two feet. The band describes "Kiss This" as having a typical rock and roll progression. For the song, the band took the feeling of the Rolling Stones' song "Sympathy for the Devil" and mixed a hip-hop element in it. The band believes the song is their version of a ‘Young Hearts Run Free’-type song but in a rock mentality.

It was originally released on 15 June 2018 as the lead single from their album and was later re-released as a duet with American singer-songwriter Kesha on 28 August 2018. Both the solo and duet versions are included as the first and thirteenth track respectively on the Struts' album. The song was written by band members Luke Spiller and Adam Slack with producers Lauren Christy and John Levine.
Young & Dangerous is the second album by English rock band The Struts, released on 26 October 2018 through Interscope Records. It was primarily recorded while the band was on tour; "Primadonna Like Me", "Body Talks" and "Bulletproof Baby" were released as singles prior to its release. The album title comes from a line in the chorus of the track Freak Like You. The band began a world tour in September 2018 in support of the album.
