Thudiyalur railway station is a suburban railway station of Coimbatore. It is a station in between Coimbatore Junction and Mettupalayam. [1] The station was reopened by Railway minister Suresh Prabhu. Recently Thudiyalur railway station building was refurbished and the station started functioning from July 3, 2017 onwards. Thudiyalur railway station is just 800 meter from Thudiyalur bus stand.

There is huge acres of land available for railways here, earlier CRPF Goodshed is planned near the railway station.

Administration

The station is operated by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways and comes under the Salem railway division.

The station has one platform and a line connecting Mettupalayam and Coimbatore.

Services

This station handles local passenger MEMU trains between Mettupalayam railway station and Coimbatore Junction. It just takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach Coimbatore Junction and 25 minutes to reach Mettupalayam railway station from Thudiyalur railway station and fare is also just Rs.10 in both directions. And"monthly pass" is just Rs.100 per person for both up and down trips to Coimbatore.

Mettupalayam Road, (NH 181) is a major arterial road in city of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. This NH runs for about 10 kilometers starting exactly from Rangai Gownder street up to the northern Thudiyalur within the corporation limits.Beyond that the road continues northwards for a distance of 26 kilometres till Mettupalayam. It is six metres (20 ft) wide in most stretches. The road narrows at the stretches between Edayar street, RG street and Flower Market areas. Green Corridor system is under implementation between Chintamani and Thudiyalur to synchronise traffic signals, as it is one of the most congested stretches in the city. This road connects the city with Saibaba Colony Bus Terminus and the northern suburbs in the Coimbatore Metropolitan Area.

Mettupalayam railway station is an NSG–4 category Indian railway station in Salem railway division of Southern Railway zone. It is a railway station located in Mettupalayam, a suburb of Coimbatore district in the Indian state Tamil Nadu. It is one of the important railway stations located in the Coimbatore District, because the Nilgiri Mountain Railway to the hill station of Ooty starts from here. It is the connection between the metre-gauge Nilgiri Mountain Railway and the broad-gauge main network of Indian Railways. It recently celebrated its 150th anniversary.

This will certainly help decongest the city roads since this circular line passes through the main parts of Coimbatore city and ends within the coimbatore city limits, so this circular line is an urban line. Restoration of old Main Line Nanjundapuram Railway link line lengths 1 km will help plan circular urban electric train track. A senior official with the Salem division says, "if the revival of an old line can bring about so many benefits, it can be considered". However, Implementation of this project gets delayed due to the Proposed Coimbatore Metro.

The Coimbatore–Mettupalayam branch line connects Coimbatore Junction and Mettupalayam in Tamil Nadu.

Nanjundapuram is a residential neighbourhood of the city of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the well developed neighborhoods in the city and has been part of Coimbatore Corporation since 1981. The name "Nanjundapuram" is derived from the Nanjundeshwarar Temple located on the banks of Noyyal river.
