Tondiarpet Metro station (formerly Korukkupet Metro Station) [1] is a metro railway station on Line 1 Extension of the Chennai Metro. It is one of the 26 stations on the Blue Line (Chennai Metro). The station serves the neighbourhoods of Tondiarpet and other northern suburbs of Chennai.

The station was opened on 14 February 2021 with the opening of the northern extension of Blue line of Phase I. [2]

The Chennai Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the 4th longest metro system in India. The system commenced service in 2015 after partially opening the first phase of the project. The current network consists of two colour-coded lines covering a length of 54 kilometres (34 mi). The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu built and operates the Chennai Metro. Vannarapettai is a northern neighbourhood of Chennai, India. It is also known as Pazhaya Vannarapettai, sometimes shortened as Vannai. It is located north of Parrys Corner and adjacent to Royapuram. The Purple Line or Line 3 is one of the three lines of Chennai Metro, Phase 2 Project. The under construction line stretches from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri Sipcot 2. The line will consist of 47 stations, out of which 28 are underground and 19 are elevated.

The Orange Line or Line 4 is one of the three lines of Chennai Metro, Phase 2 Project. The under construction line stretches from Light House to Poonamallee Bypass. The line will consist of 27 stations, out of which 9 are underground and 18 are elevated.

The Red Line or Line 5 is one of the three lines of Chennai Metro, Phase 2 Project. The under construction line stretches from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur. The line will consist of 48 stations, out of which 6 are underground, 1 at grade and 41 are elevated. The government has announced feasibility studies to extend metro rail's corridor-5 from Koyambedu to Avadi via Thirumangalam, Mogappair and Ambattur. At present, the proposed corridor-5 links Madhavaram with Sholinganallur via Koyambedu, Alandur and Madipakkam.

The station will serve the neighbourhoods of Ernavur and other northern suburbs of Chennai. This station was inaugurated along with Thiruvottriyur Theradi Metro Station on 14 March 2022.
