Thirumangalam is an underground metro station on the South-East Corridor of the Green Line of Chennai Metro in Chennai, India. This station will serve the neighbourhoods where the old village of Thirumangalam once stood and now the area where the Thirumangalam Flyover, a prominent landmark and referred to by residents when giving directions.

The station is being constructed by the Consolidated Constructed Consortium (CCCL). The station was opened for public on May 14, 2017. [2]

The station

The station is being constructed as an underground station near Koyambedu. The station has a capacity to handle about 23,000 passengers an hour. The station has four entry and exit points. [3]

Traffic

As of December 2019, about 10,000 passengers board trains at the station, making it the busiest metro station in Chennai. [1]

On 30 June 2023, a Minibus Service S70k was launched which will connect Thirumangalam Metro Station to Korattur Water Canal Road via Anna Nagar West Depot, Padi Saravana Stores, Korattur Bus Stand, Bus Railway Station. also, 10 Electric Autorickshaws are available for a fixed price of Rs.25 per km. [5]

Entry/Exit

There are four entry exits. All are on second Avenue. The exits in the left side while traveling towards airport or Koyambedu is best suited for reaching Tirumangalam, Mogappair, Padi, Koyambedu. Additionally, Lalitha and GRT jewellers are in the same side.

Chennai Central Metro, officially known as Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central metro station, is an underground metro station on the North-South Corridor of the Blue Line and Green Line of Chennai Metro in Chennai, India. Central metro station is spread over an area of 30,000 square metres (320,000 sq ft). On 31 July 2020, It has been named by Government of Tamil Nadu as Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Metro to honor the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam founder and the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran.

The Red Line or Line 5 is one of the three lines of Chennai Metro, Phase 2 Project. The under construction line stretches from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur. The line will consist of 45 stations, out of which 6 are underground, 1 at grade and 38 are elevated. The government has announced feasibility studies to extend metro rail's corridor-5 from Koyambedu to Avadi via Thirumangalam, Mogappair and Ambattur. At present, the proposed corridor-5 links Madhavaram with Sholinganallur via Koyambedu, Alandur and Madipakkam.

Royapettah metro station is a metro railway station on the Purple Line of the Chennai Metro. The station is among the underground stations along corridor III of the Chennai Metro, Madhavaram Milk Colony–Siruseri Sipcot 2 stretch. The station serves the neighbourhoods of Royapettah, Triplicane, and Gopalapuram.

Thirumayilai metro station is a Metro railway station on the Orange Line of the Chennai Metro. The station is among the underground stations along corridor I of the Chennai Metro, Lighthouse–Poonamallee Bypass stretch. The station serves the neighbourhoods of Mylapore.
