Tomb Raider is an upcoming television series based on the Tomb Raider video game franchise. It stars Sophie Turner as Lara Croft alongside Martin Bobb-Semple, Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, and Bill Paterson. The series is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video.
In late January 2023, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Phoebe Waller-Bridge was developing a Tomb Raider television series for Amazon Prime Video. [1] Megan McDonnell was hired to write the series. [2] It was greenlit in May 2024 by Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios. Waller-Bridge wrote the series and is an executive producer alongside Jenny Robbins through Wells Street Productions. Other executive producers include Dmitri M. Johnson through Story Kitchen, as well as Michael Scheel and Legendary Television, and Chad Hodge as co-showrunner. [3] [4]
By late October, Sophie Turner and Lucy Boynton were in the running for the role of Lara Croft, with Turner securing the role the following month. [5] [6] In December, Martin Bobb-Semple, Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs were cast. [7] [8] [9] In January 2026, Bill Paterson joined the cast. [10]
Principal photography for Tomb Raider began on 15 January 2026, at Shepperton Studios in Surrey. [4] [11] The same day, the first image of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft was released. [12]
