Tooncan was an animation studio based in Montreal, Quebec founded by Paul Cadieux. [1] The company has worked on TF1's The Bellflower Bunnies and Sylvain Chomet's The Triplets of Belleville . [1]

Kirikou and the Sorceress is a 1998 French-language animated adventure fantasy film written and directed by Michel Ocelot. Drawn from elements of West African folk tales, it depicts how a newborn boy, Kirikou, saves his village from the evil witch Karaba. The film was originally released on 9 December 1998. It is a co-production between companies in France, Belgium and Luxembourg and animated at Rija Films' studio in Latvia and Studio Exist in Hungary.

<i>Pippi Longstocking</i> (1997 TV series) 1997 animated television series

Pippi Longstocking is an animated television series produced by AB Svensk Filmindustri, TaurusFilm, TFC Trickompany Filmproduktion, and Nelvana based on the book series drawn and written by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. It is a joint Canadian-German-Swedish production. This was the first time that the popular character had been animated. A spin-off of the 1997 animated film of the same name, the series disregards the film and starts with a new storyline. Melissa Altro, Richard Binsley, Noah Reid, Olivia Garratt, Wayne Robson, Rick Jones, Philip Williams, Chris Wiggins and Karen Bernstein are the only voice cast reprising their roles from the 1997 film. It was led by German director Michael Schaack. The story editor and chief writer for the series was Ken Sobol whose son, John, also wrote several episodes.

Kassai and Luk is a children's animated television series produced by Marathon Productions. It was developed in 1996 and originally aired in English in 1997 on Teletoon, which classified it as a pre-school program. In Mexico, it was aired by Once Niños. Directed by Jean-Louis Bompoint and inspired in La Belle Histoire de Leuk-le-Lièvre written by Abdoulaye Sadji and Léopold Sédar Senghor in 1953.

Xilam is a French animation studio which specializes in making animated television series and feature films. Marc du Pontavice and his wife Alix founded it in 1999 as a replacement for the animation division of Gaumont Multimédia, which was itself an offshoot of the company's television division Gaumont Télévision, a company he co-founded in 1990. Gaumont continued to have a deal with Xilam until 2003. Gaumont Multimédia was a video game publisher until closing in 2004.

Consisting of four episodes, it was directed by French animator Moran Caouissin, produced by Patricia Robert, and written by Valérie Baranski. The music was composed by Baranski and Daniel Scott.
