The company was founded in Quebec City in 2003 by Steve Couture, Philippe Bégin, and Christian Daigle amid the dot-com crash. Originally, the name Frima comes from the French word "frimas," which is the layer of frost that forms around windows during winter. This is due to the fact that the studio made its debut in the poorly-insulated apartment that the three founders shared. [2]

The studio’s initial focus was on casual, online and multiplayer games.
Moving to mobile games and multi-platform: 2008-2013

In 2011, Frima acquired Volta Studio and Virtual Concept Studio, specialized in high-level concept art and visual effect for cinema.
Expansion into full-development: 2014-2017
While the world was introduced to social media and Social network game, Frima started to partner on various Facebook Game, incorporating new elements such as monetization features.
New partnerships: 2016-2018
