An animated series is a type of animated television works with a common series title, usually related to one another. These episodes should typically share the same main characters, some different secondary characters and a basic theme. Series can have either a finite number of episodes like a miniseries, a definite end, or be open-ended, without a predetermined number of episodes. Tom and Jerry is an American animated media franchise and series of comedy short films created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Best known for its 161 theatrical short films by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the series centers on the rivalry between the titular characters of a cat named Tom and a mouse named Jerry. Many shorts also feature several recurring characters.

Renegade Animation is an American animation studio located in Glendale, California, which currently specializes in Adobe Animate and Toon Boom animation. It was founded by Disney and Warner Bros. animator and director Darrell Van Citters and his business partner Ashley Postelwaite in July 1992 in Burbank, California. The studio previously produced Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi and The Mr. Men Show for Cartoon Network, and The Tom and Jerry Show, Unikitty!, and Tom and Jerry in New York for Warner Bros. Animation.

It was announced at the 2014 Banff World Media Festival that the series was renewed for a second season. On July 14, 2015, the series was picked up by Hulu to stream it as part of Hulu Kids. The series ended on August 27, 2016. 40 episodes were produced.

The Last Kids on Earth is a children's animation streaming television series, based on the book series of the same name by Max Brallier, that premiered on Netflix on September 17, 2019 with a one-hour first season. A ten-episode second season, or "Book 2", titled The Last Kids on Earth and the Zombie Parade, premiered on April 17, 2020. The third season also known as "Book 3", was released on October 16, 2020. An interactive special, subtitled Happy Apocalypse to You, was released on April 6, 2021.

Tom and Jerry: Cowboy Up! is a 2022 American animated direct-to-video Western comedy film starring Tom and Jerry, produced by Warner Bros. Animation. It is the first Tom and Jerry direct-to-video animated film in five years since 2017's Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and a continuation of the film series. It is also the first Tom and Jerry direct-to-video animated film to feature the animation services by Renegade Animation, the studio that animated The Tom and Jerry Show (2014–21) and Tom and Jerry in New York. It was released to DVD and digital in the United States and Canada on January 25, 2022.
